Agree with all the above. Proud and happy for the kids and staff. Very impressive that they’ve never given up. And that emanates from Coach. It’s inexplixable how the team can have such a turn around. But equally gnawing to know what could be with a few additional useful pieces.

Great team efforts.

Hola Amigos!
Just got back from four month trek through the Andes.
How fares our Redmen?

We won this game with 6 kids. Can you imagine what we might be able to accomplish with a full team. ;) It has been like this for years and I am hoping (no praying) that we have a full bench next season. Right now on paper we do. Let's keep it that way.
Game-callers regularly brought our attention to Nova's not having Phil Booth available tonight, but (unless I'm mistaken), never noted that LoVett, our second leading scorer, wasn't available to us.

Looking at Nova, they are, of course, an elite team, but their interior defense is suspect, something that could hurt them as the season goes ont. We were at our best when we took the ball to the basket.

75 times they said it
OK, OK. Obviously I didn't hear it. (Was it really 75 times? I've got my doubts. But at this point, who the hell cares.)

Almost as many times as they said that they were playing three freshmen and one guy just came off an injury and had only one day to practice. Pity poor nova.:p

Was agreeing with you. Mentioned no Paschal and Booth roughly 75. Stopped counting at 10 figured 75 sounded right. Never mentioned Lovett once.

got alot of texts from friends and family about the Duke and Nova wins. St. john's getting alot of good press. get those recruits Matt!

look at their roster. 6 red shirts who are proven players and not one scorer thats a Sr. They will be just as dangerous if not more ( if possible ) next year. I think we are following that blue print somewhat. Red shirts are definitely more mature and seasoned. We will have 6 red shirts on our roster next year if I'm counting correct. As far as tonight goes.....man if we win the city will be buzzing. Come on johnnies!!!!

bump. Congrats boys!!!

Jay Wright was well aware that our team had wilted at the end of games, so it was an interesting strategy of his to keep fouling immediately in the last minute, hoping our guys would melt under the pressure.

They didn't, and as such some sunk the biggest free throws of their careers. Awesome.

Nonstop excuses so far today by NOVA fans. PASCHALL and Booth missing no mention of Lovett.

NOVA fans are almost Duke 2.0

we are sju, sorry for misinterpreting your response to my initial posting. Good to know I'm not going deaf ... not yet, anyway. And 75 does sound reasonable with regard to Paschal, Booth, the freshmen, etc.

I wasn't able to cover last night's game but I still wanted to contribute a photo to commemorate the victory.

SJU loses eleven with Ali and Yawke getting some time and the team losing games in the final minutes and appearing to run out of gas. Mullin plays the starters more minutes lately keeping those two on the bench and the team seems to have more in the tank at the end of games and is obviously more successful.
Some things are hard to figure out.

I remember Coach Carnesseca saying, "It's not who starts the game; it's who finishes." Would rather see subs play earlier, when possible.

Received an email from SJU Alumni asking for a donation of $79.75 in honor of the winning score......great idea....and, of course, I donated!.....hope the program gets a boost of cash from this incredible week of SJU hoops....

The last time we played Nova it looked like their offense mainly involved driving into the paint and then dishing out to a player who was uncovered on the outside for a three point shot . last night that plan did not work. mullin later claimed that they changed their defensive strategy because they had given up so many 3's. it worked , we did a great job covering the outside shots and eliminating the out pass from the paint . Other than gillespie they were in effective from long range . " You live by the 3 and you die by the 3 ' .
