Villanova, Sun. Jan. 31, Noon, FOX & 970AM

I wonder how much closer the game would have been with Sima healthy and available.

I wonder how much more we would have lost by if Ofechku was healthy and available

.

Frank, you know what stood out for me (watched the game in a nearly empty Corner Bar Main Street Sag Harbor no football) besides all the possible analyses positive and negative...
IMO
Our kids never gave up today and haven't this season - disparaging though as it has been.

And I relish the day - hopefully in the not too distant future - when we not only have a chance but go on to beat Villanova. BE teams better enjoy the easy ride against us this year.

Thanks to everyone sharing. I enjoy the diverse opinions.

all the best

PS Mr. P shared Lovett's tweet on this very point! Accumulating Ls won't last forever!!'

did this 15 pt loss and clear showing we need help improve our chances w/ Rawle ?

If there is one thing he can be confident of, it's he'll be playing 35 mpg if he comes here. He would instantly become our best player.

Umm no he would not play 35 minutes a game. In case you noticed without Rawle we have two talented players at every position for next season. That is how you build a program. No reason to give Rawle 35 minutes a game and have other talented players transfer and not recruit others as they perceive there is no pt available and be left with nothing. A perfect recipe for disaster.
If he comes I can see him getting 25 minutes a game barring injuries and transfers.

How much time do you think Self promised Diallo?

If I had $100 for every time I shook my head watching this game, I could take a vacation anywhere in the world

But as we know Mark that's for this game and this year. Head shaking on the decline commencing March when this brutal season is a memory.

That's very true SS&G
I don't even yell at the TV anymore like I used to do in past years
My wife told me that she likes the new and more mellow me watching the games
She's been forewarned - things will certainly go back to "normal" next season

@DalyDoseOfHoops tweet;

Chris Mullin: "When we do turn this around, it's going to be that much more sweeter." #sjubb

yea its only a matter of time before this program becomes really good again but im not gonna lie i wish UCONN and SYRACAUSE was around

Throw Pitt, Louisville, BC in there as well...I can already see Chris Mullin shaking hands at the end of the game consoling Rick Pitino et al.

Does anyone know about the connection between Cashman and the johnnies? It's the second game that he was behind our bench.

I know he's a huge Kentucky fan, maybe he just likes college basketball in general too. He's originally from the NY area so maybe he has some SJU ties? Definitely interesting.

he heard how hard some of our shots hit the backboard so he is scouting for the next Amir Garrett

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you build it(a successful SJU team) they will come. Plenty of impartial New York college basketball fans dying to jump on the St. John's bandwagon. NY's team!

Not much to say critically about today's game. We've seen enough of our kids to know that they are not in the same class as Nova and no one expects them to be.

Final score doesn't matter much. Nova had one 5 minute spurt at the start of the second half, and sleepwalker through the game otherwise. Had our kids played much better, Nova kids would likely have woken up and played a better game as well.

In the crowd were a bunch of Nova students and recent alums with the SJU alum parents. Pretty good crowd for Sunday at noon, and the manager gave us a smile. The larger crowd was almost entirely due to Nova fans, who largely were quiet all game.

Big takeaway for me was that our kids bust it the entire 40 minutes. Mullin has also taken the reigns of this team and is much more engaged start to finish. It's easy for the wheels to fall off when you are in a tailspin like this, but incredibly they have not.

People in this city respect and admire Mullin. When this gets rolling it could be pretty cool

I was thinking about the Kentucky thing. George met his father through the horse business I think. Maybe Cashman got to know Slice. Just a guess

Yawke threw the ball so hard into the crowd that I am sure he could be a pitcher.

Slice was in Kentucky one season. Mullin & Cashman have done charity stuff together, as recent as this summer. Not sure of relationship origin though. Jimmy Patsos, coach of Siena is extremely close to Cashman from their Catholic U days. Patsos has a ton of NYC buddies. Perhaps that is relevant to CM/BC connection.

Wasn't much, but I'm sure there was some talks/catch up when Mullin threw our first pitch last season.

It would be nice if Mussini or Yakwe could add a couple of inches, which is possible.

Unfortunately we Italians are not known for our late growth spurts

My dad was 5'9" when he was 11 and thought he would be 7 feet tall. He topped out at . . . 5'9"
