Villanova, Sat. Jan. 14, 12 Noon, FS1/570AM

Who else on here believes that we are going to win Saturday. Sure hope that I am not the only one.

I bet the Johnnies almost every game and normally think they have a chance to win, but what in the world have you seen recently to make you think STJ can beat Nova. Maybe cover with the points, but win outright? Are people hurt on Nova?

Well said. Still not sure if I'm going. As someone else said, I don't want to be in our "home" arena, surrounded by 10,000 Nova fans chanting "Let's Go Nova", while watching my team get beat up. It'll probably be a Saturday morning decision as to whether I go or not.

I don't blame you, maybe STJ can shock the world but I just don't see it.

I don't see us being in the game, but I do think Nova may let down a little and cruise.

Expect Jay Wright and Nova to get an enormous ovation when announced as national champions. I do have an association with Nova, but even without that Nova is an enormous asset to the Big East by winning a championship and running a clean program in the process and deserves to be applauded, if only once by SJU fans..

Villanova is also the only "legacy" Big East team to be the top 25. They are holding up their own, against the expansion Creighton, Butler, Xavier.

Nova perspective with some respect for Johnnies overall.

"Villanova Owns NYC"

"It’s no secret that New York City has been Villanova’s home away from home in recent history. In the last two seasons the Wildcats have gone 14-1 at MSG and the Barclays Center, the lone loss coming in last year’s Big East Tournament Championship game to Seton Hall. Even that was a blessing in disguise as many players credited the loss to increasing the team’s focus for their Championship run."

"But it’s been a while since the Cats fell to the team that’s supposed to own the Big Apple. Villanova has won 8 straight meetings with the Red Storm, the last loss coming at the Pavilion in 2011. The Cats haven’t lost to St. John’s at MSG since 2002, and should be favorites to keep that streak alive on Saturday."

I do not see them being introduced as defending national champions in our own building.
Nothing surprises me at MSG however, hopefully they are not selling Villanova gear. Selling opposition gear at our home game needs to stop.

Yeah I was happy they won and was cheering for them at the time but let's not get crazy with cheering for them when they come on the floor. We are here to try to win the game.

Exactly.

There will be plenty of Nova fans there, they don't need sju fans cheering them too.

I would like to see Lovett and Ponds take every shot
Their D will be swarming all over those 2. Need someone else to step up. Like Bash. Also need good ball movement finding the open man and crisp, purposefull passing. That is our best formula for success.

Per Zach B
St. John's is a 13.5 point underdog tomorrow against Villanova. Thought it would be around 15. #sjubb

Wright must have the flu.

If by legacy you mean second year of the BE you'd be correct.

Shamorie when asked about there being more Nova fans at MSG tomorrow......

“I’m not sure about that,” freshman guard Shamorie Ponds said. “We just have to stay focused, because our crowd, when they get loud, they bring the energy and we just fight. We build off their energy.”
