Villanova, Sat. Jan. 14, 12 Noon, FS1/570AM

Who else on here believes that we are going to win Saturday. Sure hope that I am not the only one.

I bet the Johnnies almost every game and normally think they have a chance to win, but what in the world have you seen recently to make you think STJ can beat Nova. Maybe cover with the points, but win outright? Are people hurt on Nova?

Well said. Still not sure if I'm going. As someone else said, I don't want to be in our "home" arena, surrounded by 10,000 Nova fans chanting "Let's Go Nova", while watching my team get beat up. It'll probably be a Saturday morning decision as to whether I go or not.

I foresee a big game from Matt Kennedy.

If that is the reason you are not going that doesn't help all the fans or brave souls who are!!

From press release

,The Wildcats carry a nine-game win streak against the Red Storm into the contest. It has been nearly 15 years since St. John’s has upended the Wildcats at home."

I guess we're due. :)

Well, I do agree with you on one thing. It does take a great deal of courage to attend one of our games! B)

I was looking forward to this game until the Georgetown beat down. There was effort in the Creighton game and even in parts of the Xavier game. We showed very little effort in the first half and were lucky to still be in the game. The second half was the worst half of basketball we played all season and that includes Delaware State. Hopefully something clicks on Saturday and that we can beat DePaul on Monday.

I'm not sure what's worse. Having to witness a potential blowout or having to wait on line for bronx pale ales because there will be so many Nova fans there on line too

We had a pretty good time at the butler game.

Didn't Hardy and co. Beat them on the road?

Maybe with a packed MSG Derrick Walker will care less if SJU loses & more about some potential PT here when he sees our frontcourt up close.

In your view would this be a quality get and not a fall back option? Seems to me the former, not a Year 1 program changer, but strong 4-year lunch pail type kid that frankly we've lacked that probably has a chance to be a central piece as an upperclassman. That's obviously based on very little so curious what you and others may have seen and heard here.

I agree with you, not an immediate program changer, but sense he is a late bloomer and four year blue collar player. That coming from a guy who has never seen him. :)

He has played with a very good and successful AAU program fwiw.
He sounds like just the kind of player we need to recruit and certainly fills a need.

And since they don't start selling alcohol till game time, we may be down 20 before I'm inebriated.

Yes.

I can't read this team at all; at least we don't matchup poorly against Villanova. If booth plays we lose by 25 because they take the foot off the gas, if he doesn't I think we can keep it close. Brunson won't be able to stay with Marcus on the defensive end, he is too slow footed. Need a big game from Ahmed on both ends to pull an upset since I think Wright puts hart on Shamorie. No Ali B, only to spell Owens if in foul trouble, he should be behind Williams and RF. Yakwe just has to commit to defense and rebounding for the rest of the year, he has absolutely no feel for the basketball, that can happen when you are in the weight room more than working on your game. I know the kids will be hyped up to play the national champs at MSG, I just hope they play hard and as a team.

I like us any time we have some rest.. We've had almost a week off.. Get some fresh legs under us... If all the planets align, and Nova has an "off" game, and we light it up like we did against Syracuse... Anything is possible... Maybe it's insomnia effn with my brain though... Idk

Since Nova barely beat Depaul, it certainly is possible that we can stay with them. Not likely, but possible. Get them to the end game, where the pressure falls on them since we have nothing to lose. If we fall behind by double digits at any point, Nova may just push to put us out of our misery.
