A few likely unpopular comments about RJ: to paraphrase the immortal words of Dennis Green, he is who we thought he was. Enormously physically talented, not especially enamored of sharing the basketball, capable of scoring and offensive rebounding as he did tonight, also capable of at least a couple of brain lock moments every game.

The most interesting thing to me tonight was that he got absolutely cooked by Wooga Poplar in the second half. I do not think that Poplar is that much more talented that he can repeatedly blow by RJ, and RJ is usually a pretty good defender.

It feels like Nova found something in the scouting report about RJ's defense that they were able to capitalize on. SJU staff needs to figure that one out.
Would you rather Wooga? RJ is usually dependable on D. I agree he wasn’t at his best but I’ll take 30 points and the rebounds all day.

That’s the definition of a dislocated shoulder. I should know I’ve had 5 of them in my left shoulder. First time boxing, second time basketball, third time lifting weights, fourth time walking my dog, fifth time in my sleep. As you can tell I became more and more of an athlete the older I got. 🤪
Total Pitino-speak. Ok it isn't dislocated NOW, but that isn't really the question now is it

LMF give me a break. Yes Poplar blew by him several times but Luis is not only physically talented he is a big time clutch player who was far and away the best player on the court and came up biggest when it mattered most.
Give me him every day and any day over Kadary.

Not saying I prefer Poplar to Luis. Just saying the degree to which Poplar repeatedly cooked Luis, who is a pretty good defender in many aspects, points to Nova identifying a weakness that we would do well to address.

Another weakness is that our team of non-shooters still hasn't figured out that everyone knows they are non shooters and packs the lane for drives. Which results in turnovers primarily by Kadary and RJ who aren't accounting for the extra hands in there on their drives

You said it wasn’t a popular view but again he didn’t cook him enough. We can all find faults in any players game. Nobody plays a perfect game but best guy on the court was RJ tonight!!

Great win tonight. RJ carried us on the offensive end, we played pretty good defense all night and dominated the boards.

I guess we will find out how costly this win was down the road when we see how long Deivon is out, because we need him.
