Us older guys are going to think it's stupid. But it's not us they are trying to attract because we're stubbornly not abandoning the program.Need more good basketball and less gimmicks. That's what draws fans. Not sure Mike Cragg gets that yet.
I hear you LJSA, and gimmicks may have some short term benefits, but winning basketball resonates with all fans, at any age. I say maybe this gimmick puts a few dozen extra fannies in the seats.Us older guys are going to think it's stupid. I assume (read: hoping) there's a science behind this and they are just trying to figure out which one resonates with young people. Or casual people. Or cheap people. Maybe all three. We can use all the fans we can get.
I had one job where CEO was constantly asking me to research "Will millennials like this?" I can tell you that a lot of the ideas were stupid. One huge problem that should not be overlooked: Even the young people we hired were too dorky to know what a normal young person liked. That would be my biggest fear about St. John's and any promotion they try to run.
And hopefully they enjoy themselves and come back for more games and maybe bring a few friends/family.I hear you LJSA, and gimmicks may have some short term benefits, but winning basketball resonates with all fans, at any age. I say maybe this gimmick puts a few dozen extra fannies in the seats.
I was in an MSG suite for a Rangers game last year. Not the suites behind the 100 level, but the ones higher up, on the 31st street side.I just scooped up 4 tickets in a suite thanks to Betmgm and my sports investing.
I’m figuring out who I am going with and who can go etc. if I have any left over I will post on here and offer. Hopefully I will know by tomorrow.

I love those suites. Sat their for the playoff games. Haven't been to the suites at BarclaysI was in an MSG suite for a Rangers game last year. Not the suites behind the 100 level, but the ones higher up, on the 31st street side.
I thought they were much nicer than the similar suites at Barclays Center,. At least at MSG, you have a bathroom in the suite. At Barclays, you have to use a common one at the end of the suite area.
Doesn't hurt that 4 of our 6 losses have been to teams currently in the top 25. Only bad loss we have is the shellacking by Seton Hall. Win Friday and we will be no worse than tied for 6th in BE and right back in the hunt.
This is just my own analysis of reduced fan support at MSG games . Think of it this way , if a fan was 45 years old in 2000, they are 68 now . They went from still having kids at home to having grandkids living elsewhere . Many of the old time posters , like me and others , you know who you are , have moved away to sunnier and warmer climates . We aren’t going to MSG games regularly . If at all . CA seats what ? 5000-6000 fans tops ? If all those fans , loyal though they are , go to a MSG game that’s 5000 St John’s fans in a Arena that Seats 19,000 plus . Where are more St John’s fans going to come from ? Yes , they are Alums , Students , fans that will come out too but , not to see a Team that loses more BE games than they win . Lastly , since Work at home has become a reality , how many St John’s fans , other than season ticket holders , are going to schlep into Manhattan for a 7 pm or later game ., If a fan lives out east on LI, or Conn or NJ or Westchester and have worked at home all day , how many will come in to MSG ? It all hinges on the Team being a contender , which really hasn’t happened in a long time . Years ago , there was always a buzz about St John’s BB. Now ? Not much at all . I live in a area in the South with a lot of Retirees like me , many of whom are Buckeyes, or ND , Indiana , Villanova , Michigan , etc Alums and they always ask , “ what happened to St John’s BB ? “ I have no answer .Thanks for sharing this- i found it SOOO Odd that i purchased 4 tickets saving me ~200$ lol - section 208, bit of a diagonal... but i trust my little ones will charm the ushers in the middle sections lol.
Lesssggggooooooo JOhnnies! hope everyone that can make the game does!
I think that is a noble goal . But , time will tell . Many old timers would love to see 19,000 plus at MSG , with mostly Red Shirts prevailing ., my freshman year , the team won the NIT in Joe Lapchicks final season . The Old Garden at 50 th Street literally shook with fan excitement . It’s a memory I’ll cherish to the end .Play like they did vs Conn and the fans will make the trip to MSG.
For some of us work from home makes it easier to go to games. A lot easier for me to leave from my house in Huntington and go to a game than go to work leave work at certain time drive home and drop my car off at train station then go back into the cityThis

Hopefully we can atleast 10k for this game. IMHO that should be the minimum for any garden game for SJU.Go back to Mullin's last year to see what a reasonable expectation for what attendance can be. That team was good (not great) and got some buzz early in the season. Very good attendance at MSG.
