Villanova- Game 2

This game reminds me of the last regular season game for the 98 team. Senior laden Team was playing great (12/13 wins) and went into UConn the last game and got demolished by 30 points. I can see a repeat of that - Villanova is the best team we've played all year and we've had some bad performances on the road. A win our improve our ncaa seeding but a loss won't make our seeding worse. That's the good thing.

If memory serves me correct they got demolished by UConn in the finals of the Big East tournament and then went on to make a run to the Elite Eight. I will take that result in a heartbeat

What we saw this year was a group of kids bail out the staff. Four guys played 40 and CO who finished up the game limping played 32. Needed the Marq. win and they got it. Usually the next game is the most important. My feeling is winning Thursday and being part of the Friday night show is paramount. Guys on the floor gonna play hard, but I would think getting them primed for Thursday would be the way to go. Is there a better middle pack game in the country then the BE 4-5 game?

This team is better than aspiring for a slot in the semis of the BET. The goal should be and is a BET championship

98 was felipe and zendons last year - they went into uconn last game of the year and lost by 30....and lost to the cuse in the BET semis at the buzzer - were given a 7 seed in the NCAAs and lost to detroit in round 1.

99 they lost to uconn in the BET final and went on to the elite 8.

I just hope we give the guys some rest - try to win of course and play all the starters 30+ but no need to play anyone 40 - give jDR, Amir, Felix some time. If we are beating nova it is more likely to be in the semis of the BET, not on the road on their senior day.

Walk on Cuse was never called in BET. They got hosed

yes wasju you are correct but lets try to stay on topic we dont want posters to blow a gasket for not discussing the Nova game :eek:hmy:

Boomer and Carton were just reporting that Minko is stuck in Milwaukee after calling the game Wednesday night, any word if the team made it out?

@BrandonTierney: Travel tales for #SJUBB: arrive Milwaukee Tues, late tip Wed; charter cancelled, remain in Milwaukee; early arrival in Philly for 'Cats Sat.

This is the cynical side of me talking...The league wanted us to be in the dance, and I would say the refs were fair-to-favorable in the last few weeks (who are we to complain, its law of averages!). Tomorrow will be the first time in while that the league wants our opponent to win more than us. Nova profiles nicely as our conference representative considering they are going for a 1 seed. Wouldn't be surprised to see the refs screw us a few times.

I can't argue with this, except to say that I think it will be a little higher scoring.

St. John’s at No. 4 Villanova, 2 p.m. ET, Saturday, Fox: Remember that St. John’s squad that fell apart in January when it lost three of four, a rut that was punctuated by a road loss to DePaul? Well, Steve Lavin’s squad has righted the ship with a 7-1 record in its past eight games. Not a bunch of mediocre victories, either. We’re talking about wins over Xavier (twice) and Georgetown. The Red Storm continue to hover around top-50 offensive and defensive efficiency numbers. So much is at stake in this St. John’s-Villanova game. St. John’s is far more comfortable than the multitude of bubble teams fighting for at-large berths. And a road loss to a potential No. 1 seed won’t harm its résumé, but a win would certainly remove any doubt about its postseason fate. Villanova has had some rough nights in recent weeks. The Wildcats are coming off a tough game at Creighton. But no team has touched Villanova at home. Jay Wright’s squad won’t squander its chance to snatch a No. 1 seed, even though it is facing a hot team.

Prediction: Villanova 67, St. John’s 58

Is the game on FX1 or regular Fox, and what time does the game start. What worries the me the most re the final success of the season, is the injuries. I think if we are healthy we could knock off a 1 seed. Hopefully we won't be playing Kentucky. Of course, if we are , that means we won a game.

I don't think the refs were exactly favoring us during this run. Will agree in general, that like the "famous NBA envelope in the icebox for Ewing to the Knicks" hypothesis, that any league with a new york city entry gets more attention when the NYC team does well.

Sirvoo,

Somebody in the league office obviously forgot to give that message to the clowns who reffed the Depaul game (the one at CA). Crowd was booing those guys all night, and rightfully so.

@NYPost_Brazille: Chris Obekpa is expected to play tomorrow and Jamal Branch (groin) will be a game-day decision, per #sjubb

That article shows a bit how other places still see Harrison - a few years out of date.

No matter how much someone changes, other fans will always take their shots.
