Villanova- Game 2

Knight's got the hot hand!

I don't see the point in going all out vs Nova on Sat. Save it for when we meet & beat them in the BET.

I would sit Branch for sure and use D'Lo and CO sparingly. Why risk another injury?

Sit them all. John Popavich does it, and how many championships do they have?

His brother Gregg is a decent coach, or so I hear... :)

It is a tough call. I would love to see them stay sharp and take down Nova but in the back of my mind I see Nova wood-shedding us and heaven forbid, a DJ Kennedy moment. I would prefer we rest up, lie in the weeds and strike with venom in the BET.

Exactly, let them roll us by 40. The game is meaningless. Yes, Gregg. My bad.

Got play them all. There is not one player on this team that would opt to sit the last game of the season. That's why we love this team.

Go Redmen!

I think the high post entry with the kickout that we did against Marq is close to what we need to do against Nova, but it plays right into Nova's defense. They overplay the middle. Instead same game but we need to push it down further and force the refs to call fouls. But definitely take advantage of that overplay and kickout for good shots. Make the defense work rather than letting Ochefu and Pinkston take us apart cherry picking. I think Nova is going to be prepping this game specifically to shut down Pointer in that spot looking to steal.
Hard to believe I'm saying this but I think we can outshoot them, but we've got to mix it up and wait for the good shot like we've been doing the past few games. If Jordan continues to play like he is and not forcing we are a killer.

I be there and Geno's and Pat's afterwards. Play hard no resting. Can't think that way.
5 days off then the Big East. UCONN rode the Big East to the NCAA title and never thought about rest.

This guy Jenkins is their wildcard that I don';t like. Comes out of nowhere with threes. Kind of like Sina did to us the first SH game.

Let's go Redmen!

Gotta tell you, Knight, your avatar is right-on for me. Whenever tonight's score got within 4 or 5 points, I had to switch to another channel (even "Mob Wives"!) for a while. The older I get, the more stressed out I get watching these games.

I know what you mean. My damn cable kept seizing up and I went trying to find the game on radio. When I did cable was back.

Got it. But I purposely changed channels. (And man, those mob wives are scary!) Wasn't until the three-minute mark that I stayed with it. Am getting to old for this.

Worst idea... ever. Have no idea who John Popavich is but this is the NCAA and momentum matters. Anyone who can play without a substantial risk for aggravating an injury should be playing. We can rest them in second half when SJU is up 20. Seeding and momentum matters when going into BET and NCAA. Love this team and feel especially rewarded to be among the few that never jumped off the bandwagon this year.

So you can't have a good seedings by rest everyone Saturday, then possibly winning the B.E. Tournament?

All you have to do is look at last year for your answer. Providence won the BET and was only an 11 seed although myself and I think many others thought that was a snub. They had to play a very good UNC team in the first round and although they played very well they lost. A better seed and they would have most likely beaten an easier opponent. Beating Nova on the road would do wonders for our seeding, confidence and momentum.

Nothing could be better than beating nova twice down the stretch on the way to a BE championship. These guys have a chance to show they are the best team in the league.

Saturday's game is not an all or nothing situation. It's a matter of being smart and understanding risk/reward.

We aren't going to sit guys, like it's Week 17 with a playoff spot locked up in the NFL, unless they are injured. This is a team that is going to play to win every game.

At the same time we are playing the #4 team in the country, on the road, after they hung 90 on us at home (most points allowed all season), 60 hours after we had 4 guys play 40 minutes with two critical players showing signs of continued nagging injuries in the last few minutes.

If we're in position, of course we are going to press for it. But if not, it's ultimately not worth the risk of Harrison being in the condition the next two weeks he was the last two of January, from @Depaul through @Butler.

We have shown that we have a chance to make the BET and NCAA a lot of fun, and we need Harrison and Obekpa as close to healthy as possible in order to do that. Just don't chase a win if it's not there on Saturday, that's all. Trust the staff to evaluate that in-game.

Spot on as usual 15

This Nova team is obviously much better than the one the 11 SJU team beat in Philly thanks to lights out performance by Dwight Hardy. With Jordan operating on all cylinders & team playing well with confidence, I am allowing myself to dream however. :)

As SJU 15 noted, however, we have to think big picture & trust staff will make good decisions on risk/reward injury issues. Beat Nova. Love "House $$" & being able to watch this one w/o much stress. Proud of job kids & staff have done to dig out of that January hole. I frankly did not believe they could.

without branch saturday might be too much to ask but I think we beat them in a rematch at the BET with branch back

Anything is possible though with our kids so that's why I'm driving down

BET I'll be back to being on the edge of my seat with every possession

Great point. Would love to see them Friday night in the semis! Hopefully with Branch and others healthy. Thought things were pointing towards that matchup in the semis last year as well, and we both got beat.

Been a while since we've gotten to the semis (have we been back since we won it in 99-00?). One of my favorite nights of hoops of the year, made even better if we were in the mix again.

I second that

Don't rest Harrison at all. Kid finally got his sway back last night he'll be fine let the man play.

This could be a great win but it is obviously by no means a "must win" like last night. i think we need to play balamou, alibegovic, and stewart more as we are playing with house money and dont want anyone hurt going into the post season. by no means should we bench our best players though.

Im driving down to the game and meeting Redmen07 and a few SJu fans down there to see an upset!

Cant wait for Pats and Genos before the game!
