Up Next: Butler

Great wins but tempered expectations going forward because this was a pretty weak butler teAm. I really hope Lavin keeps the rotation short going forward.

Spot on gman

The short rotation has been by attrition. Lavin, being superstitious, will not start Greene again until one of our guard trio defaults. Thank God for God because Chris O has been a Zer O of late.

Not liking the PG IV hating. Let him find his place. He can be a contributor. I think the hating comes from frustration of not winning like we should.

BTW, I think GG is maturing and coming into his own. Watch him. I think you might like what you see.

I don't hate him. He gets way too many minutes and today proved that. He can contribute to this team, but should not get major minutes at Branch/Jordan's expense. He is a role player, not a starter.

I agree. I just don't like all the hating posts. We are a team, all of us, including the Redmen.com posters.

Come back from Hinkle with the team's best game since Fordham to read 75 posts about how bad PG IV is...only on redmen.com! :)

Indy, you are far too positive. Wait until the on-line betting pool about which poster will be the first to accuse Lavin of poisoning PGIV.

Ok guys maybe I was over reacting with saying he's a cancer . What I should of said was " how much better our team is without phill Greene " sometimes I tend to get real emotional after St. John games.

Greene should be st.johns "12th man"

I like Greene, he should share the ball more but he certainly has a better shot than Branch. If they are going to press and run, which is this team's best offense, they will need Greene and all the horses they have

The problem with Green isnt that he totally sucks and should not be on the floor. He has had multiple good shooting games this season and will have more. The problem is that when he is in, he too often is running the point. He should never be in that position. It is Lavins fault that he continues to be despite having two healthy true point guards. When Green is on the court, he should be moving without the ball, running off of screens to find catch & shoot opportunities, never running the offense as the point man.

I agree. Having said that, he can be a major contributor from the bench.

It was great meeting you Salty! (And wild to be recognized when my picture is 4 years and 20lbs ago). Didn't get a chance to meet other posters but so happy that after moving here in 99 to have the Big East here and my alma mater in town. I admit to being a bit envious of seeing the long time posters hanging in the same sections back home watching the team. It's the little things, like winning a game in a building that NEVER has the home team beaten like that

Not hating at all just posting what I see on the court. I'm 100% all about team and 100% all about St. John's basketball. Phil can contribute to the team, like I said his role should be coming off the bench playing anywhere from 6-10 mins and, with the way he shoots it ,
giving us 6 points within those minutes .

Phil Greene is not a bad player. He just has been overused and misused. Its clear that he is not a point guard. Everyone sees that. He doesn't turn the ball over because he very rarely tries anything that involves risk. It means that you have a low turnover count, but it also means that you don't generate high percentage shots for yourself or teammates. As for his shooting...I have noticed that he is a fairly accurate shooter when he has his feet set and body squared up properly. His percentage drops quite a bit and he is a streaky shooter when is fet are not set and body square. It means he is good when used as a spot up shooter, but not that good when off the dribble or the step back.

Phil should be instant offense off the bench when Harrison or our sf needs a blow. Anything more than that is asking too much.

I am sure you are still the handsome devil! Please describe the Butler crowd and your impression of our team. Regards.

There s a difference between hating and stating Greene shouldn't start and he should be a backup 2 or backup 3rd guard. Which is what I say.I like Greene when used properly which is definitely not a Pg nor starter.

Q for my fellow STJ fans. I'm stuck at work until 6 - I can listen live to Minko on the radio while working, or shut down phone, turn off radio and go home and watch game on DVR without knowing what happened after 6....what do you guys think???

dvr

I went with the Dvr, just finished watching. I knew we were sitting on wins. 3 and counting!

If they can win two of the next three (@Creighton, Marquette and @Prov), I love the last eight games on the schedule: Creighton, @ SH, Georgetown, Butler, @Nova (redemption on 2/22), Xavier, DePaul, and @ Marquette. FIVE home games in the last eight, a close road game against a team we just beat, and the final road game against a Marquette squad that won't be playing for anything.

In person we are still ragtag, but Jordan is taller than I thought and played well, Sanchez and Pointer still drive me crazy as they bout between great and inconsistent. I can spend 2500 words on Jakarr, but I would be 5000 words short. I will say that if every attacked the way Gift does, no one would approach the paint on us. Max' three was huge, but he's slow. And Coach...well you guys are better at this than I am.
