UCONN back to Big East?

This seems to be getting no coverage or is it just because I’m in London and the sport sites default to other stories?

Yeah its getting plenty of coverage here.
I'm actually sick of hearing about it

No surprise

@DaveBorges
Just spoke with Mike Aresco, who says it’s “not possible” for UConn to remain in the American as a football only school. Says there is unanimity among other schools on this one.

A Courant beat writer said that Yukon will likely become an independent in football

After all the realignments the Big East has all of its original members back except for Syracuse and BC, and if you include Pitt (joined 1982). Providence, St. John's Georgetown, Seton Hall, UConn and Villanova (joined 1980) are still members. Anyone that says the Big East isn't what it used to be, I would say its closer to what it was originally than it ever has been. As for quality hoops, i don't view Pitt and BC as much of a loss and the 5 new members more than compensate for their lose.

I know i'm not adding anything, but i was adamant against UConn joining as I think it may hurt recruiting for St John's. Now that they are part of the conference I think it does make the conference stronger and the conference is closer to what it was originally. WIth the loss of UConn and Syracuse the conference was definitely watered down a bit, getting UConn back gives it the potential of putting it on an level as high as any other conference including the ACC.

It actually would be great if BC and Syracuse rejoined sans football, but it would never happen. Those were great regional rivalries. the hated Boeheim gets points for his public displeasure at leaving the Big East, and as hated as Syracuse was, to me at least never rose to the level of UCONN arrogance. BC was flat out a great rivalry in the early Big East days.

Syracuse can rot. .
They are the ones that hit the eject/self destruct button on the old BE to chase ACC $$ for football. Everyone else just scrambled to get a seat after that.

BC can go 'Eff themselves for the same reason.

No way I'd EVER take either of them back if it was up to me. Let's just add a team we can put in a "west" division and get to 12 teams. Gonzaga, Cincy, Memphis, St Louis...whatever.

Of that list I like Memphis and Cindy the best. That said, Memphis football is a ton better than in the past and I don’t see them dropping down. Same with Cncy
Unfortunately. St. Louis doesn’t excite me at all.

Finally gonna get nailed for the Sid Wilson tampering LOL?

Funny timing of this, back in the Big East and now they go after them, coincidental maybe but the NCAA will never surprise me!

I don’t mind if Mike Anderson gets a year or two head-start on them... ;-)

NCAA upholds UConn' loss of scholarship for next year, puts Kevin Ollie on three-year show-cause penalty.
