Travesty!!!!!

Mike Cragg responded to my email about the 'Travesty Hall Game'. He's a very classy guy.
He communicated his passion for the program and "for St. John's to be a prominent part of the national fabric of sports in NYC and our country" and said that "L.J. made a tremendous 'winning play' on defense."
He closed saying that the Administration "properly and privately conveyed our thoughts on the final moment of play to the Big East office--and that, again, is all we can do n a professional, classy, and efficient manner."
It's obvious the Big East Office should--at the very least--admit a clear error of judgment was made at the end of that game that denied victory to St. John's--or as close they could publicly state.
Give us a bone with our soup.
I consider Comegy's lane violation no call even worse than the Seton Hall fiasco because it was a NCAA game. Watching it on TV it was so obvious a violation that happened right in front of an official I convinced myself that I didn't know the rule. Since Billy Packer who was announcing didn't mention the violation was another reason I thought I didn't have the rule correct in my mind.
I hate the wasted time reviewing calls but if the idea is to get the call right I can understand spending the necessary time to get it right.
Of course the Dallas Comegys lane violation and the Billy Singleton tech were much worse as it was in the NCAA Tournament and in each case we were beating a higher ranked seed and in the Depaul game would have made the sweet sixteen. I don’t recall what round we were playing Duke , it may have also been the round of 32. Game against Duke remains stronger in our collective minds as Duke was a higher seed than Depaul and if you don’t root for Duke you hate Duke.
Yes...Those were some frustrating calls in St. John's history...and there were more. The un-called hip check on Eric Barkley in the NCAA final eight game against Ohio State.....a Duke flop against Postell at the end of a close NCAA game....and a Syracuse charge against Bernard Rencher in a regular season game at Carnesecca. But I differ on one thing. Having been around since the MacIntyre days, this one is # 1. That is because we won this game. There is no judgement involved. This incompetent referee clearly sole away an important victory. He had the luxury to review this play for a long time. The video evidence was clear as day.He didn't even bring in the third ref, who was chatting away with Chris Mullin. His decision basically awarded the game incorrectly to Seton Hall....and he over-ruled his crew to cover up his error.
Spot on. All the other calls are bang-bang plays and bad calls. This is the only one that is similar to the Olympic game when a game-ending play was reversed and covered up by the powers above.

Although I am still pissed, I've been negative enough regarding this over the past 2 days.

Does anybody know how many more times we will see these refs in the future?

Games very often come down to a few calls throughout the game, the only difference here is the call was blatantly obvious and dragged out during the final seconds. Had it happened at any other point in the game, most people would have largely forgotten it already.

I seriously hope they understand how badly the ****ed up, and maybe we will be the beneficiary of some calls/no calls in the future.

Who knows? Just trying to find a positive here.

At a minimum, I think at least the crowd will be SUPER pumped every time those refs step on the court.

We have 18+ more games to learn and grow from this experience. I think the team is up to the challenge.

With all that said, I am now drafting up emails to Cragg and the league officials. I encourage everyone else to do the same in a respectful manner. Certainly makes me feel better.
Hopefully stephens does a game at Carnesecca. (Just not tomorrow night). Fans should be all over him.
I would love it if he and Breeding did the game tomorrow. Why not? The league seems to think everything was done just fine.

Gawd no!
Don't trust those two guys and don't want them anywhere near a St. John's game at least through this season.
