Transfers

LOL some of this stuff is comical. A week ago this was the kid that was gonna "save our offense" and now that he considering leaving hes a headcase thats worth parting ways with now and we're now coming up with rationalizations as to why he wasn't recruited by more high-level schools?
Never said hes a head case. I said IF hes a headcase ,we don't want a repeat of the Sheed saga. All I know is something is going on behind the scenes.

Understandable, just commenting on how quickly the narrative and rhetoric about this kid changed. Maybe he's upset at the school for screwing this up? After all, the school/staff has been wrong literally every step of the way here in terms of the news that has leaked or been released with regards to Lovett's case.
Of course the tone has changed . 2 weeks ago he was supposed to be next years starting PG. An underrated player w great passing skills. Now we read that he may be leaving.

Actually I think most of the fans on this board proclaim our recruits "underrated" before they arrive here, and then proceed to bestow unrealistic expectations on the kids thus overrating them. Then, when they kids don't live up to the unrealistic expectations, they are chastised and ridiculed. Its a vicious cycle.

man i was really looking forward to moose, ponds and LoVett in the backcourt together. I hope we are all wrong and he is not another Jordan

Jordan actually played for us, he just kept threatening to leave before he finally did.

Best players that never actually played for us.
1. Darius Miles
*2. Lenny Cooke-never actually officially chose us
*3. Marcus Lovett- Potentially if rumors are true

Missing anyone?

As previously mentioned Gary Payton who definitely had the best career. Moses Scurry committed and signed an LOI along with the class of Jayson Williams, Horace Broadnax and Evander Lewis. Scurry didn't qualify, went to San Jacinto and wound up at UNLV (was the six man on their championship team).

Marcus Broadnax. Horace played for Hoyas.

OOOPS. Horace made a more lasting impression on me evidently.

Made an impression on Mullin too I am sure as the "defense" he was allowed to play looked like what Andy Dufresne went through in the showers of Shawshank.

It's very early in Chris's tenure as our coach and too soon to have a clear read on his style, but my early perception is that he's going to be a no-nonsense kind of leader. He has a plan and has a team of coaches that can help kids advance their basketball career if they do it his way. And if they don't want to be a part of it, so be it. He'll move on.

Even in an era of pampered high school divas, some guys can operate like this and be successful -- and I think Chris and his staff will fit in that small, select group.

I have no idea where Lovett's head is. Maybe he stays; maybe he goes. (I hope he stays.) But I don't think this staff is going to waste energy on anyone who distracts them from what they're building. And that will be a good thing for us in the long run.

Sounds great in theory but it is what the job entails. To some extant he is going to have to kiss kids asses at certain points if he is going to be successful.

Getting along well with your players doesn't mean that you should have to kiss your player's arses, NO MATTER how good they are. Coach K brings in and GRADUATES some of the best basketball players in the country every year. You think he is kissing anybody's arse? You can run a clean program with great players who respect you as a person and coach, follow the rules, go to class, and graduate.

If you don't want to deal with the nonsense, then know who you are recruiting and don't bring in the ones who are going to cause issues with your team and the program.

Certain coaches stay away from certain players, TRUST ME on that. Jay Wright stayed away from Rysheed Jordan for a reason.

Took coach K over a year to throw a serial sexual assaulter off his team

Right on BuckNast.

Did anyone notice we have two Bucknasty's?
What is this Mexican Luchadores where you have like El Gigante 1,2 and 3?

I preferred Mr. Wrestling 1 and 2. Maybe the 2 Bucknasties are like the Valiant Brothers, which accounts for the quick tag in by Bucknasty 23 followed by the illegal doubleteam of we are sju.

The point is you don't have to let kids run the show to be successful and you should be aware of who you are recruiting and ask yourself, is it worth the risk of bringing in certain players who could potentially ruin team chemistry and hurt the program because they have discipline problems. Sometimes it is better to take a pass on a kid regardless of how good they are and bring in a player who is ready to buy into the team and the school.

Latest LoVett tweet (about 7 hours ago):

@Marcus_LoVett: "I love LA I love Chicago and I love New York and most of all I love Indiana. #Home"

If he stays, great. But we don't need players who don't want to be here.
BTW--he has more than 27,000 followers on Twitter. Which means he is buying followers. Just sayin.

Kids been a hoop sensation for 4+yrs. There are a lot of followers for that

Nah, I call BS on Lovett's 27,000 followers. Kris Dunn has 4700 followers. Chieck Diallo has 10,000 followers. Isaiah Briscoe--who had documentary movies made about him in high school--has 18,000 followers.

That said, I hope Lovett stays. In addition to filling a much-needed PG role, he can lend a hand to the PR department.

Lovett hasn't been buying followers. His hoop mixtapes blew up on social media and he got a ton of followers from it. Plus, he's been to four different high schools plus now a college, he's met a lot of people

I could be way off base, but I think BuckNasty85 is a Villanova fan. They have some nova fan on that holy land site who has a 85 in their username, and he lives in the NY area and goes to some johnnie games. But he also takes some shots at our team too over there.

And this bucknasty85 always gives us recruiting news on Villanova and stuff, so I put two and two together, but I could be wrong. I don't really care just thought I'd share

Oh yeah but he brought in Pinkston with problems and had phone card issues with players. It's easy to forget.
