Transfers

If he stays, great. But we don't need players who don't want to be here.
BTW--he has more than 27,000 followers on Twitter. Which means he is buying followers. Just sayin.

Kids been a hoop sensation for 4+yrs. There are a lot of followers for that

I hope he doesn't transfer but their is something with this kid and it is not just the three high schools and the ineligibility. The fact that he was not heavily recruited rings some bells. Jordan was not recruited as heavily as you would expect nor was Whitehead.

man i was really looking forward to moose, ponds and LoVett in the backcourt together. I hope we are all wrong and he is not another Jordan

Jordan actually played for us, he just kept threatening to leave before he finally did.

Best players that never actually played for us.
1. Darius Miles
*2. Lenny Cooke-never actually officially chose us
*3. Marcus Lovett- Potentially if rumors are true

Missing anyone?

Norvel Pelle. Heard he was tearing it up in Taiwan. That was early in 2015. Don't know where he is right now.

As the human league would say, the Lebanon. (averaging 11.7 / 15.3)

As much as this pains me to write, if he s a head case, and I'm not saying he is, than its better to part ways sooner, than later. Don't want a repeat of what happened w Sheed. We are building a program and need a PG. Gives us time to get another PG, maybe there s a transfer who would be available 2nd semester next year or JC .Wouldn't want him bailing in the middle of next year. That said ,hope he returns and is w us for some time.

I had no problem with Jordan, CO, Sampson and Diallo not being on the roster this year. There was a viable reason for each case. If Marcus is a goner I'd be a little perturbed and would want to know what his reason is.. if it's related to the program (and not personal) I'd want it nipped in the bud.so this doesn't happen again. Very disappointed to hear of this development, top 10 PG's are a commodity, that's why there are only 10 of them each year!!

If in fact he's gone, my guess is that it has nothing to do with the program and everything to do with Marcus. I'm not a shrink, but 4 high schools in 4 years tells me the kid has some attachment issues

Why did Jordan leave? Omar Cook? 18 / 19 year old kids sometimes do stupid things or use logic that 40 year old people think is stupid. Doesn't make sense to me but I am not him.

Agree it could be anything, but would be surprised if it was a result of an issue with the program/staff

I don't think anyone w/o an agenda will blame Mullin if this does come to pass. He took a shot at getting a good player.

Now you could argue that we shouldn't have gotten involved in first place. But I am pretty sure the people making that argument would be the first to complain if we weren't bringing in better talent.

What would you say if he was thinking of transferring because the staff was letting him know they weren't sure if there is a place for him next year. This could be the case depending on who they are still trying to sign. This is a possibility. Nobody loves Mullin more than me but if it comes out that Lovett transfers because he is feeling pushed out the door I am wondering how that will change the perception. Will people stop instinctively bashing Lovett and criticize the staff for stabbing current players in the back while looking for better options? Just a thought.

The thread is composed of complete hysteria, drama, rumours etc but your post that the staff may be telling the only true pg they have out of the 11 players presently committed for next season that he should leave ,and a 4* top 100 player no less , truly takes the cake. There may be a multitude of reasons for ML to leave SJU but your theory is just not one of them.
Can we please refrain from jumping off the ledge.

I'm glad my post truly takes the cake when I said it was just a thought. Pretty funny that my "theory" is not a possibility. Keep living in a naive world. What if Mullin thought Lovett wasn't a good fit for the team or if he thought they would definitely get Alkins(which I know is a longshot) or some other top point guard that he covets. You don't think Mullin's staff would push him out?

Not saying it is fact but I have heard from a reliable person that Lovett is not sure if there is a spot for him next year. That could mean many things and it doesn't necessarily mean he's not coming back but it leads me to at least a possibility of my "theory".

LOL some of this stuff is comical. A week ago this was the kid that was gonna "save our offense" and now that he considering leaving hes a headcase thats worth parting ways with now and we're now coming up with rationalizations as to why he wasn't recruited by more high-level schools?

If there is a message there and he is leaving to go to Indiana, go now!!

I know it was you, Chucky! You broke my heart. You broke my heart!

It's very early in Chris's tenure as our coach and too soon to have a clear read on his style, but my early perception is that he's going to be a no-nonsense kind of leader. He has a plan and has a team of coaches that can help kids advance their basketball career if they do it his way. And if they don't want to be a part of it, so be it. He'll move on.

Even in an era of pampered high school divas, some guys can operate like this and be successful -- and I think Chris and his staff will fit in that small, select group.

I have no idea where Lovett's head is. Maybe he stays; maybe he goes. (I hope he stays.) But I don't think this staff is going to waste energy on anyone who distracts them from what they're building. And that will be a good thing for us in the long run.

Never said hes a head case. I said IF hes a headcase ,we don't want a repeat of the Sheed saga. All I know is something is going on behind the scenes.

Understandable, just commenting on how quickly the narrative and rhetoric about this kid changed. Maybe he's upset at the school for screwing this up? After all, the school/staff has been wrong literally every step of the way here in terms of the news that has leaked or been released with regards to Lovett's case.

As previously mentioned Gary Payton who definitely had the best career. Moses Scurry committed and signed an LOI along with the class of Jayson Williams, Horace Broadnax and Evander Lewis. Scurry didn't qualify, went to San Jacinto and wound up at UNLV (was the six man on their championship team).

With all due respect, Pearl Washington was a hoop sensation. Lebron James was a hoop sensation. Ben Simmons was a hoop sensation. Marcus Lovett was a very good high school basketball player.

Of course the tone has changed . 2 weeks ago he was supposed to be next years starting PG. An underrated player w great passing skills. Now we read that he may be leaving.

Marcus Broadnax. Horace played for Hoyas.

Sounds great in theory but it is what the job entails. To some extant he is going to have to kiss kids asses at certain points if he is going to be successful.

I think there's not nearly enough info on all of this yet, and because of that, it's pretty funny reading through some of the rationale for something that is still just a rumor. But I agree with firestrom that drama will be short lived with this staff. We saw drama play out for months upon months with SL, mostly because he was forced to stick it out with our overall lack of depth, balance and recruiting missteps.

I can only hope that he has good people in his circle who are helping him figure whatever he needs to figure out.

I think most people on here are talking about the staff tolerating the Jordan/Obekpa kind of stuff. I highly doubt we'll see those kind of antics being tolerated by this staff. And if anything is going on with ML(and usually where there's smoke....) the staff has been aware of it and is likely already working on a plan B.

I really hope Mussini doesn't tweet anything about missing "real" Italian food.

First, will be 15 pages about how he's going back to Italy and then the eventual "he's too small" and "he's got no handle" posts will follow.

CO?

Very possible Marcus tweet about just sipping tea and watching is referring to this board freaking out over a rumor
