Transfers

Technically not a transfer, but App St. finally released Devonte Graham from his LOI. Obviously we need bigs desperately, but he is a top 25 talent & with all our open scholarships, I would hope Lavin would call his coach and make a trip to Brewster for their upcoming open gym. There is probably no chance of this happening though and is just wishful thinking on my part.

Providence really wanted to get involved. They just got commitment from a PG, so maybe that's that.

Dont really think that would affect Graham but his list of suitors is a long one

Jon horford leaving Michigan and will have immediate eligibility.

6'9 and 250. 4pts and 4rbs in 14 per game. Paging Lavin.

The kid is earning a degree from Michigan! I think the new coach at Cal would be very interested or another near Ivy that will attract his interest.

Should be all over him.

@EvanDaniels: Marial Shayok just received a release from his Letter of Intent at Marquette, per his father.

Can we even recruit him?

If he signed an loi I think the 2 year transfer rule would be in effect

@GoodmanESPN: Marshall guard Kareem Canty told ESPN that he has received his release -- finally. Can transfer to another school.

@TheRecruitScoop: Since re-opening his recruitment from Marquette, 2014 wing Marial Shayok holds offers from Indiana, Rutgers, Virginia & the Golden Eagles.

I thought the rule, at least in the old Big East, was that a Big East team could not recruit a player that signed an LOI for another Big East team, two-year rule notwithstanding.

@JonRothstein: Xavier's Justin Martin will transfer, per the school. Eligible immediately. Long line for this one. Averaged 11.7 PPG last season.

Two really good players. House is a former 5 star recruit & apparently from the same town as D'Angelo

TaShawn Thomas and Danuel House have requested a release from Houston, but have so far been denied: http://cbsprt.co/1hGipqw

As I understand the transfer rules, Transfers don't necessarily help us next year, since they typically require a scholarship and can't play until 2015-16. SJU has a critical need for front court help in 2014-15 and 2015-16. SJU also has an unbalanced class issue to deal with. A lot of kids are scheduled to graduate in June of 2016 and possibly Jordan leaving early for the NBA. The only transfer we should be drooling over are those that have just completed their Freshman year. If we knew that a transfer was immediately eligible or had a sick relative in New York, I suppose we could hope the NCAA could help our cause. The NCAA has no't done so in the past. A graduate with eligibility could help us, but it seems like there are only a few of those.
