Thanks for all the asides, insights, speculation, and early signals you share.
As the years become decades as an SJU fan, you should know that your posts help provide at least reinforcement to the notion that "hope springs eternal"..and that is your biggest contribution here.."HOPE".
It's still encouraging, if redundant at times, to read that some diamond in the rough has engaged our talent scout or our coach with enthusiasm; or that some former NYC star found that "all that glittered" in that far away big arena didn't include him; or a promising talent, who never thought of us, is frustrated out in no-man's land, and is suddenly attracted to the BIG CITY LIGHTS of NYC and MSG and SJU..
And so, your posts say to me.. maybe...just maybe...there is reason to hope that next year will be better.
Now I know why Charlie Brown again decides he will try to kick the football, and maybe this time, she won't yank it away. Hope springs eternal in the true REDMEN fan.

Who's Enoch?

Sit out beefy transfer from UConn who has been less than stellar there to be kind. That said, he was highly recruited.

Enoch has certainly been underwhelming, but the truth is he hasn't really gotten many minutes and I don't know how he's been used. He's averaged barely more than 10 minutes per game which is nothing. He's a very mobile and athletic 7 footer and seems to have some offensive skill. I think he'd be a good pickup for us, especially sitting out one season and getting better. Guys like him don't grow on trees. I think he can be more productive than he has thus far.

Looking at the teams in the final four , excluding UNC, and many teams that have advanced far in the tournament , it becomes evident that very few comprise a roster of talented high school players that stayed 3-4 years. Many are a combination of high school , judo , transfers and foreigners. I highlight same because this clearly appears to be the direction our present staff is going in. Would I like the UNC route , you bet , but it will never happen for SJU. And let's be honest had very young Richard F shown a little more , which I believe he still will , we would all be singing the European Pipeline.
I applaud the staff for their efforts and hope we will continue to climb the college basketball ladder.

what about that juco power forward from Jersey that played on Ahmeds team. He was getting a lot of double doubles. I think his last name was Juiston or something like that

So who is the grad transfer big that's going to address our most urgent needs?

Personally I thought our most urgent need was to keep the core of this team together , Ponds, Lovett, Ahmed , Yakwe, Clark , which the staff has done and should not be discounted in this day and age.
We add two transfers should be good or better
Who fill the needs of size and toughness and currently return Mussini , Richard F and AA, the last 2 who can only get better.
So at present we have 10 players for next season , 7 of whom we know what they bring to the table and 3 ( Yakwe, Richard and AA ) who can only improve as they could not be worse.
After retaining the core a big grad transfer would be very nice as would a talented transfer or two who would sit out and improve.
As a comparison we only need look at UCONN and Georgetown as 2 programs who have had their top recruits decommit and lost talented players to transfer. Something thank g d we were able to avoid.

Very possible and highly probable , but I wrote that he could not be worse. If he leaves , he leaves, if he returns it is an experienced senior who hopefully will improve.

I'm thrilled that staff has this far retained our core, but If we're relying on Amar or Freudenberg to bolster our front court, experience or otherwise, we're in big trouble.

Kansas is recruiting him aggressively

So who is the grad transfer big that's going to address our most urgent needs?

A veteran big Matt taking chance on, very savvy, but a bit undersized. Never underestimate experience though.

An upperclassmen, warm body that's taller than Yakwe and heavier than Owens will be welcome.

But Ali B, and Williams fit that description, so maybe not.

Sounds great because as we have all learned experience and skill can be far more valuable than athletic ability and size.
