Transfers SJU May Get Involved With

Per Zach
A few names I'm hearing St. John's will be involved with: Marcus Evans (Rice), Peter Kiss (Quinnipiac), Michael Weathers (Miami, Oh) #sjubb

Because even if Lovett stays this year thats it. These kids sit out a year and replace him. Could have a nice Junior backcourt with Ponds and Simon and a good transfer.

This.

What has gone unnoticed or perhaps undernoticed is that the current staff has done a terrific job spacing out the classes as opposed to the Norm and Lav errors I mean eras. What happens this period should help still more with that.

With no Freshman on this years team picking up a Freshman transfer or two would make sense.

Per Zags
Seton Hall offered Quinnipiac transfer Peter Kiss and he plans to visit within the next coming weeks, per his mentor.

I would add that while I guess the staff knew there would be transfers this winter and spring/summer, going into the season there were no rides to offer for 17/18 and then only 1 for Amar in 18/19 (contrary to the chart on JJ Basher still has 2 years eligibility I believe). So to say they've done a terrific job is a bit of a stretch. It's been accomplished purely due to player attrition, doesn't seem that strategic.

True but you can;t forsee everything. A bit of luck and timely breaks help

With Ellison gone don't we have only one guard over 6'1" and will be playing short once foul trouble or the flu or whatever rears its ugly head. With three potential roster vacancies doesn't one of them need to be a big wing who can play defense on an opposing guard. Where is Jamal Branch clone when we need him?

Sorry, Amar and Dwill would have made 2 available for 18/19 and yes, I know that player attrition is a major part of the process nowadays.

We have Simon ,and Bash can play the 3.

it seems the guys we were involved with last year were from much higher quality programs

I prefer to think of these kids as players who should have been at higher programs but were overlooked.

Peter Kiss would add to talented St. John's backcourt. Local NY kid has extraordinary bounce. Brings that New York edge to the court ..

Zach B's response;

"Gotta think he's a priority"

How are our chances with him?

Great name
I can see a lot of funny headlines in NY papers in his future if we get him

Bill Rafferty will love him

How about Csmeron Johnson from Pitt as your "Branch" fix?

6'8, graduating with 2 years of immediate eligibility. 12 pts 5 rbs 2/1 assist:TO ratio with only 1 TO in 33 minutes a game and perhaps most impressive 78 made 3's on .415 3fg%.

Yea I'd say hes worth a look.
