Transfers SJU May Get Involved With

6'8" 230lb from whatever country Yugoslavia is now.

This kid looks like a player! Has an outside game and is 6'9. Hope we have a chance. The big downside I hear is that he is infatuated with his hair. That could become a big distraction when playing defense, rebounding or taking 3 pointers, which is his specialty.
A shame Paultzman didn't identify him by name. ;)

Get D Will to stay sign the kid from Putnam science go with Owens Williams Yakwe and kid up front

If I had to, I'd bet on Kante, Owens, Clark, and a grad transfer, with Ahmed getting time there, and Alibegovic getting spot minutes.

Good bet it appears

Paultzman, you're killing me.
Hoping for more than that. No more sit-out transfers? No hints as to who the immediately eligible transfer is. Maybe a Bill Walton/Wilt Chamberlain type?

As we have known for several months, without a top flight freshman big that could have an immediate impact, it all comes down to a grad transfer. Personally, I am beginning to accept that it will be another year of wishing we had a better front court. Hopefully we can get this settled by 2018, or before more than one of our stud guards leave.

I-Mike......you listening?

Yeah Paultzman, throw us a bone! ;)

Im sure this kid was mentioned, but according to his tweeter feed SJU getting some attention. Between us and S.Fla? 7-1 230lbs. Kid looks pretty good, more of an inside player than other euros. Any insight Paultz?

"Nyet", favor visit I'd say.

That bodes well as I recall your suggesting that he was our backup plan. If correct, it suggests that we feel confident we will sign our mystery grad transfer and he is a better option that the 7 foot Juco kid

Unfortunately, I don't read it that way. I read it as if the kid is going elsewhere but going thru the motions with us (maybe we are HIS back-up plan). There is no grad transfer and we will get the 2 star (hopefully rising) 6.8 freshman from Brooklyn. And hope Yakwe wakes up.

Nah, SJU backup plan in this case.

Just me, but still hanging in there re a transfer big, but been wrong before. Bottom of 8th. ...

If it was the bottom of the 9th I'd be concerned. ;)

I hope you are correct because the JUCO kid couldn't get off the bench to do much there so I don't see him as a difference maker in the Big East.

Recruiting is all about cultivating and maintaining relationships, because you never know just when they will pay off. And sometimes that means helping drum up support for another guy's kid. So for everyone worried that we'll get him, USF needs bodies so I suspect he ends up there with a friendly invisible nudge from us.

Hypothetically speaking, Chris Cheney coached Scenic in high school. At another one of his coaching stops, Cheney also coached DeAndre Kane, who found a home at Iowa State after transferring. Matt A. coached at Iowa State at the time. Cheney is now at a new basketball academy in Pennsylvania that eventually may prove useful to producing Big East players. Again, this is all hypothetical. He wasn't a difference maker at JC. And I'm not convinced he's better than Amar and he ties up an 18 scholi.
