Transfers SJU May Get Involved With

I welcome the newest recruit, Mr. Dixon. I was really hoping for someone over 6'2". Some like 6'10". Isaac Kante seems like a lock given the Paultzman avitar. I am worried about Isaac's 2* ranking. Really need an immediately eligible
transfer BIG, if the program is going to show continued improvement.
I think Kante will be a good 4 year player. But, I too would like to see a quality grad transfer big. And I get the feeling we are not getting one.

Tea leaves at this point seem to indicate you are correct.

This would be a major disappointment. Not sure how we let Williams walk out the door. After Owens, it will be Yakwe and freshmen.

Can't blame the fan base for little patience with lack of rebounding next year. By the way, at MSU, Clark played on the perimeter a heck of a lot. I wouldn't expect him to be a post-up/banger type.

Define a heckuva lot. He had the 3rd best rebs per min on Michigan State his second year there and took less than 1 3 per game. Yes, he has an all around type game for a 3/4 type hybrid player but he doesn't play like a pure wing. I just get the feeling he'll do what needs to be done.

Agree....3/4 hybrid. I just get the feeling folks perceive him as a post-up/banger type.

'17 Kenny Wooten from Trinity International (NV), tells me he has picked up an offer from St. John's.

Would love to land this kid. 4-star PF that had offers from zone, Kansas and others. I'd love both he and Kante.

MCNPA, Any idea if he has offers from some big schools and is a 4 star as to why he is still uncommitted? Also, I wonder why we weren't involved earlier? It just sounds like maybe we are throwing things out there hoping someone will bite. Not the worst thing as long as we are throwing at a big who can help us next year.

He had offers from Kansas, Arizona, Oregon and others. I'd guess we are a long shot, as he seems to be favoring Oregon right off the bat from what I've read.

Yes, Oregon apparently in good position fwiw.

During his first recruitment he had about 12 schools pursuing him all west coast We've chimed in now as has Yukon and Depaul. He's originally from northern California so if he's a Golden St or Sac fan we may have a snowball's chance playing up Mullin/Richmond/St Jean's Golden St. and Sacramento connections.

Well hopefully he values PT as Oregon, a final 4 team will likely have little PT for him any time soon. He'd step in at SJU and earn good minutes up front right away.

Yeah, I have to agree. Why in the world would Williams leave (he seemed happy here) unless he thought he was being pushed out. That is a huge loss if there is no one coming in to take his place. OUCH.

I think then takeaway from this is that we absolutely don't have a solid big lined up for next year.

Ellison doesn't bother me too much, but to let Williams go and not have some other big lined up is a complete botch by this staff with regards to this years recruiting.

We may have one more defection meaning that we have 3 or 4 scholarships. It is April 12. Kids are still sorting out commitments, transfers and NBA. I want to see at least one grad transfer Big that will plug into the starting 5 or at least big minutes. The others I'd be happy with high school commitments or other transfers but ideally 3 bigs and for me at least, not a sit out big like Enoch unless he's an impact guy.

There is a big out there looking at schools in the area with immediate eligibility. Name is Williams Go after him.

I wouldn't hate that but he is not "the" answer since he is really an out of position guy with some serviceable minutes as a "big" OTOH since he's looking at Yukon he may have already hired an agent.

St. John's will host JUCO center Nikola Scekic of Hutchinson CC tonight, source confirms. @zsmart3 first. #sjubb

I'm happy with Dixon and Kante if it happens, but not sure those two plus Skekic are worth a raise for Matt A. Muhammed and Reid, on the other hand. . .

Transferring Quinnipiac G Peter Kiss will take an Official to Auburn this weekend and to Rutgers next weekend, his guardian tells me.

To replace Heron :)

No SJU mention.

Honestly better that way. We don't really need another combo guard at this point who is not a high school junior. I am delighted with the Dixon pickup for 2018 and beyond and we need forwards for our immediate as well as future needs. Best of Luck to Kiss.

I wonder how Quinnipiac can recruit 2 players that would be of interest to SJU.
