Soriano, Champanie l, Wheeler and Mathis might disagree with you.
And how many sausages did they win under CMA, nada, null, cero. Coaching 1-2 players per year doesn't count - it needs to be an entire team.
If I allowed SJU basketball to have any impact on my sanity, I would have been institutionalized many years ago.
Really, I thought you've been posting from Bellevue for all these years? 🤪

It takes big guys longer to get used to the big east. I think O'mar can have a very similar career as Joel Soriano. I think someone is going to benefit greatly from having O'mar for his junior and senior year. Good luck O'mar!
IMO Omar will be a decent mid major player. I liked him but think his upside was grossly overrated by many of our fanbase. I wish him well also.

I don’t know about that. Yaxel shoots 43% from 3. Pitino loves guys at his size who can shoot it. The only question is if Pitino feels he can do it at this level.
I don’t think Pitino does like his big men to shoot (or drive).

Look at his last ten years at Lousiville. His PFs and Centers all COMBINED for less than 1 attempt from three per game every season. The only real exception to that is Earl Clark who was a monster combo forward with legit wing skills. I’d also add 6’8 Juan Palacios.

I think Pitino would let a Champagnie type or the Harvard kid, Ledlum, have that Luke Hancock role on offense, but not a kid like Yaxel.

Career 3 PT attempts from Lousiville PFs and Centers in Pitino’s final 10 seasons:

All the centers are 0.1 or under

Montrezl Harrell 0.4 attempts per game
Chane Behanan - 0.5 - attempts per game (0.2 his last two seasons)
Stephan Van Treese - 0.0
Terrence Jennings - 0.0
Samardo Samuels - 0.0
Derrick Caracter - 0.0
George Goode - 0.0
Juan Palacios - 2.1 (2004-2008)

Now I see why he likes Joel and his 4 year perfect 3 point shooting of 0-0

Joe Girard NBA!? No. I don’t know who these guys talk to but…

Just as a reminder to everyone that every junior or senior with professional basketball aspirations will test the waters. They are allowed to do it once and return to school so there are no negatives to trying it. I’m sure Girard and his advisors know that he won’t get drafted but why not get some feedback and see where you stand.

Unfortunately for Girard his feedback might be “can you grow 4-5 inches at 22 years old?”

I would like to see Joe here but would be honest and feel going to school like Siena and being the man would probably be the best thing for him. His best role here is as part of the guard rotation, stretching the court and being offensive force in spurts. At Siena or similar he could average 20.

If Girard could throw alley oops like that he’d be in the league.

2.7 assists and less then 1 TO per game for a 6’6 freshmen forward is incredibly impressive. 3 players in all of the power 6 conference averaged at least 2.7 assists and less than 1 TO.
