Transfer Portal

Of course, this now makes me think there's a chance Jenkins doesn't come either. . .
I am told Jenkins is coming we'll see but be clear them finishing their degrees at Iona has nothing to do with coming/not coming. That was always the plan because from a compliance standpoint that is the only option.

Assume SJU did not sign Wilcher or Ledlum, Jenkins and Slazinski would still be at Iona.

Here is how it works if you want to be a Grad transfer and thus qualify for a Grad Transfer waiver (as opposed to the much harder Undergrad Waiver) then you must have earned your degree BEFORE you officially enroll at your new school In other words you cannot be a grad transfer, leave your old school without your undergrad degree and complete your undergrad degree at your NEW school and qualify as a Grad Trransfer, follow. Defeats the whole purpose.

So if you graduate in May like many do then this is a non issue. You enroll for the Summer at your new school as a Grad transfer. But what if you did NOT graduate in May and still intend to transfer as a Grad? Well then that is the predicament these 2 were in.

It would appear that RP had a sit down with Slazinski , his former Iona kid . Must have been tough for both of them . Rick telling Quinn his PT might be significantly lower than originally thought . Telling him he would play more elsewhere .

It’s part of the NIL that these kinds of Roster moves just crop up frequently .,
Getting Ledlum likely sealed Slszinski’s fate .

Overthinking I'm sure, but I do wonder if this was planned all along.

For a while it looked like recruiting was slow and we needed bodies to show that Rick hadn't lost touch.
My feeling is that Rick kept him appraised all along. He had the built in summer class time to see it all develop. Quinn was quoted at the time of his commitment as saying Pitino didn’t promise him anything.

Quinn had some awesome quotes about heading to WV after being asked to stay by Pitino.

It was handled exceptionally well all around and I think he made the right move. The recruiting was underwhelming to start and now it’s just levels ahead. It kind of passed him over.

Is anyone with knowledge able to compare/contrast this with what happened to Wilcher and Ledlum at NC and TN?

What are you a school teacher or something? ;) Always hated essays preferred multiple choice or true-false.:ROFLMAO: Seems Ledlum saw others at his position in his way in the form of one player withdrawing from the draft and two others playing very well in the summer. Not sure of the real reasons for Wilcher other than wanting to play for Pitino.

If you can , can you post the Quotes you are referring to about Quinn? I think it’s a interesting story
Especially since you mentioned that RP still asked him to stay . Loyalty is very important to Pitino and it’s good to see , he actually practices what he preaches .

So , factually , Rick did not run Slazinski off the team . It was Quinn ‘s decision to transfer to WVU . Ostensibly , to secure PT he likely would have been hard pressed to get here . He’s also in his last year of College BB and wants to play . Understandable .
