I think that we should let RP do his job and see how it shakes out before we start bioching.
The way St. John’s seems to right contracts… 30 mill to stay all 6 years 45mill to buy him outWhat's the buyout?![]()
Too soon in more ways than oneWhat's the buyout?![]()
St. John's doesn't pay buyouts.Too soon in more ways than one
This what makes me antsy. These guys can pull in quality players immediately but we don’t with a HoF coach? HmmmCooley brought some recruits and got some transfers, Penn St brought the A10 POY, Kim English is bringing his best George Mason guys, and we got @#$%
You know what happens when you ASS ume?I was under the assumption that “Pitino players” don’t worry about things like that.
This sucks but I agree with the majority of the sentiments that it’s still early. But I think it’s fair to say the honeymoon phase after the hiring is nearing an end.
Doesn't mean he wasn't right? Maybe just announced b4 kid wanted it out. I hope he was wrong, we shall see.Hoops noted he jumped gun to me

Welcome to Red.com!! You are a perfect fit!
There's a fine line here between love and hate.
Some tend to lean to hate because every Tweet has special hidden meaning that only a few here with Twitter Decoder Rings can interpret. Give the wrong interpretation and you may be shunned, your picture turned against the wall, never to see a "like" ever again.
Others tend to lean love for St. John's regardless of who is coach because in the end it is about wanting your Alma Mater to be seen in a positive light and not like the haters who tend to live and die by the last Tweet.
The honeymoon isn't over because it hasn't even begun yet!
Some of you have gotten spoiled by Paultzman's avatars.
Just because Walt is his latest, you assume we have lost some missing link. We haven't.
As far as an Iona player Pitino convets, I dare guess Daniss Jenkins is right up there with Walt. I'm sure Rick would be happy with either but Rick's cast a wide enough net to players in similar positions that I'd say the honeymoon is still in the planning stages.
Relax!
Just last week a couple of fans bemoaned the possibility of an all Iona backcourt. The reality is it will not include Posh Alexander and Curbelo and Wusu and King.
IMO, whatever backcourt is ultimately recruited will be the one Rick Pitino wants and sees as a best fit.
That's good enough for me.
Plenty of merit to your post. But also should include he looked at 2 schools and 2 schools only. His home town team and his coach. You don’t think it’s at all concerning that a player Rick recruited from obscurity (no stars on recruiting profiles) and turned into a conference player of the year decided he no longer wanted to play for him?
Knowing who Rick Pitino is, that to me definitely has me concerned.
Take a deep breath.
Unless I have missed it in the voluminous pages on this site, Clayton has not yet announced where he is headed next season; the negative information being relied upon was released by a journalist.
My understand is that the choice of StJ’s and hometown UF is / has been a difficult decision for Clayton because a parent has had health issues.
Let’s wait until Walter Clayton makes his formal announcement before everyone panics.
If Walter selects UF, because of a parent’s serious family health issues then I would say that he has his priorities straight.
I totally agree if it's to be close to his home and parents then can't blame the kid especially if a parent has Healh concerns . Wish them speedy recovery. Plus again 2 months ago nobody on this site has heard of Clayton. Plus he was at Iona and not recruited by any of the majors that we know about. Sooo it's not like we are losing out on an Allstar with all due respect . I think most of us are a tad concerned we don't have one signee yet. This changes things.
I wasn’t aware of that.
I didn’t know anything about his parent having a serious health issue Otis. Makes a lot more sense now. Totally understandable if wants to be closer to home under those circumstances.Take a deep breath.

Could it be the bad facilities at SJU that's keeping them from comingm? Maybe they see the facilities and are like oh hell no?This what makes me antsy. These guys can pull in quality players immediately but we don’t with a HoF coach? Hmmm. Fingers crossed

Agreed, I’m not panicking or anything just yet.Could it be the bad facilities at SJU that's keeping them from comingm? Maybe they see the facilities and are like oh hell no?
I mean something is going on.
In Rick's own words he said 2-3 weeks before they start coming, so if no commit by tomorrow then it's going to take longer then even anticipated.
I'm not sweating nothing though, just stating reality. Now will I start sweating it if no one committed in say 2 Monday's? You bet I will.
This might be Rick's toughest job ever, that includes Providence in the 80s.
