Transfer Portal Mania

+1000 and it's that recent change of allowing unlimited transfers that Pitino (and I'm sure countless other coaches) are finding so hard to deal with. Otherwise we wouldn't even be talking about whether guys like RJ & Taylor are returning.
A lawsuit was filed against the NCAA challenging their one free transfer rule because they weren’t allowing people like Curbelo a second transfer without sitting out. The NCAA lost. While they are appealing, there is no injunction against the ruling so they are now allowing unlimited transfers. Based on their recent track record with the Courts, they will probably lose their appeal which is probably why they didn’t request an injunction trying to limit potential monetary damages.

When people keep saying the solution is simple they should not allow it. Well they had a rule in place and was strictly enforcing it, were taken to court because of it and lost. So that is why we are where we are today regarding the transfer rule.

Understand completely why they have to allow it, was just pointing out that imho that ruling makes it extremely difficult to build any program continuity and may result in some great coaches exiting the sport if something doesn't change not to mention fan fatigue with constant churning of players.

No argument from me. I think it was a
horrible ruling and it in effect does exactly what you pointed out. To add, I bet some of these coaches lamenting about the lack of stability and wild Wild West aspect of the portal, are the same ones who requested stricter rules and when the MCAA complied, railed against the when the NCAA rejected waivers for players transferring for the second time.

All of this really makes you think about what is the true purpose of D1 college sports at current time. With that purpose defined, then work backward as to what rules need to be in place to best achieve the purpose.
That’s a pretty easy one, make as much money as possible for coaches, college and NCAA administrators, etc. Get fans and alumni to pay the players so as to not kill the golden goose for those greedy SOBs (and yes, besides not being nice, I am cynical as f…)
Now, I will freely concede that certainly not all coaches and administrators adhere to that philosophy but sadly the majority do.
And for the record, this was posted with a mixture of truth and fooling around. People can decide the % of each because frankly I have no idea. :ROFLMAO:🤪

Yes, yes and yes on your last sentence.

I love the idea of a relationship with Uncle Stevie Cohen. Is there a thoroughbred connection that Coach Rick can use as an approach?
I’m sure if there is Coach Rick will be on it.
Someone got Repole to get in to UCF (heard recently he also is now giving FAU money?). If we could do the same with Uncle Steve, it would be huge.

Guys like that will throw millions at anything they are associated with.

Is UCF the college or the fighting?

Better off going the Casino route…😏

Garwey Dual has popped up in the Rumor Mill... very underwhelming Freshman season... a lot of "experts" had him as a potential Draft pick... and he had a chance to really step up following Hopkins injury.

think Taliek went out to see him following Cooley's departure...
Unreal physical talent but skill level hasn’t caught up. Might end up being a way better pro than a college player if it ever does.
