The Transfer Portal (in general)

“Earlier, Mouhamadou Gueye entered the transfer portal from Stony Brook. He averaged 9.7 PPG, 7.1 RPG, and 3.1 BPG.

Will have one season remaining for the 6'9 forward.”

Liked him when he played us.

This doesn't affect us this season but looks like kids that have transferred before and are transferring again as graduate students aren't getting the free pass, a la Rasheem Dunn.

I mentioned this last week per Goodman It is less about grad transfers and more about anyone who transfered prior to this year like Moore, Akinjo, Dunn and who got a waiver to play immediately would they still qualify for the 1 time exception. It doesn't sound like it.

Familiar name & bust, will be moving Marcellus in San Diego

J'Raan Brooks will be transferring to UCSD. Had a high of 8 points this season.

USD.  I know that was a typo but FWIW UCSD started their transition to D1 and the Big West this past season.  Basketball team won't officially finish their transition until the 2024/25 season.  I thought the students had voted the move to D1 down while my daughter was there but apparently I was wrong.

I don't think this rule applies to students who graduate and then transfer as the rules already in place makes them eligible to play immediately without sitting out a year even if they had transferred previously (i.e. Max Hooper).

Not anymore SJU85.  This rule replaces the Grad Transfer rule:The one-time exception will count for athletes who transfer after graduating. Previously, NCAA rules permitted athletes who had graduated to transfer and be immediately eligible. Now, if an athlete has already use a one-time exception for a transfer as an undergraduate, the athlete is not automatically eligible as a graduate transfer. Athletes can still apply for a waiver to become eligible under certain circumstances.

Rivals” Duquesne freshman Chad Baker, 6-foot-7. 190-lbs., has entered the transfer portal @Cassidy_Rob @RivalsPortal @JamieShaw5”

Baker's dad played briefly with the Spurs before playing professionally in Europe. Nice 3 point and free throw percentages for this kid as a frosh.
