That’s a ton of games. Joe had benefit of 5 years HS and 5 years college. Wonder if guys played varsity as 8th or 9th graders much back then.He averaged 33 per game in high school. So it's awfully close if he played 100 games
Pete could not play varsity as a college freshmanThat’s a ton of games. Joe had benefit of 5 years HS and 5 years college. Wonder if guys played varsity as 8th or 9th graders much back then.
Yeah that is incredible in its own right. I was thinking about HS though. Joe played as an 8th grader.Pete could not play varsity as a college freshman
Not to mention replacing his entire coaching staff who all moved on to D1 head coaching jobs.Hadn't known that Nate Oats had 9 new recruits this year, posted a 13-5 record in the SEC, and made the Final Four.
Impressive.
Hats off.
Reminds me of 1979 when we lost to Penn in elite 8 game and missed out on the chance to play sacrificial lamb to Michigan St lead by Magic Johnson. MSU beat Penn by 30. Bama makes first final 4 in school history and has to play powerhouse juggernaut UConn.Roll Tide
Gotta be in it to win it. We’ve seen monumental upsets before. Never say never.Reminds me of 1979 when we lost to Penn in elite 8 game and missed out on the chance to play sacrificial lamb to Michigan St lead by Magic Johnson. MSU beat Penn by 30. Bama makes first final 4 in school history and has to play powerhouse juggernaut UConn.
Hadn't known that either! Not to mention replacing his entire coaching staff who all moved on to D1 head coaching jobs.
If Bama is any good, they will play them within 5 points. If inot that close then the Johnnies are a better team and the tournament, as I’ve already stated, is BOGUS. No matter who is playing, any fan of college hoops and especially a fan of St, John’s hoops who gives credibility to this tournament is delusional.Reminds me of 1979 when we lost to Penn in elite 8 game and missed out on the chance to play sacrificial lamb to Michigan St lead by Magic Johnson. They have medication for that.If Bama is any good, they will play them within 5 points. If inot that close then the Johnnies are a better team and the tournament, as I’ve already stated, is BOGUS. Nobody bleeds more 'redman' than me, but inconsistency, injuries, learning curve kinks, hero ball syndrome, et al, swung the season to suspect status, and it was all over, given the NCAA's antipathy to St. John's and the BEC.If Bama is any good, they will play them within 5 points. NCJohnnie. I could not have been more wrong. I can't remember the last time I saw a 30-0 run, definitely not in an NCAA tournament. Shannon had been averaging 30 ppg in the tourney, UCONN held him to 8. Love him or hate him, Danny Hurley can coach. Much respect for what he has accomplished.Panther called it - wouldn't be easy.
I guess I don’t want to let this criticism go, you post at 10,000 feet, during or right after the game I posted specifics that all you criticizes of my opinion ignored, so I will cite the 3 most egregious IMO;Some on this site were criticizing the team for not playing hard enough against UConn the last game. I thought we played really well and it’s borne out by the fact that UConn is obliterating really good teams in the tournament.
Everybody whoever worked at SJU circa 2015 should never be allowed to work in collegiate athletics again...
