The Hated ACC's Attempt to Invade NYC

I lived in Flatbush until I was almost 25, and every time we took the IRT into Manhattan, we said we were "going into the City", so there is Manhattan and than all the other boros. Staten Island almost doesn't count, it's way closer to NJ anyway.

$#ck the ACC, in case you didn't get it.

I am praying the ACC gets less teams into the Big Dance than the all time record of the "old" BE of 11, the "old" BE rocked it with 11 teams once, including the Johnnies!

So starting now we are on a full out propaganda blitz by EPSN and the ACC to invade NYC. I turned on my TV last night to the ending of the below "documentary" airing on ESPNU. The only line I heard was "Over 6 decades of New York City basketball and the ACC. WELCOME HOME!"

Welcome home?!? Are these hillbilly's delusional? That is like the Big East Playing at Greensboro and saying welcome home. The ACC doesn't have a school within 250 miles of NYC.

If I had it my way we'd have "Sherman, Sheridan, & Grant" show them some northern hospitality like the real General Sherman did. We could also re-brand the BET slogan to "March to the C - the Big East Tournament at MSG" as a nod to Sherman's March to the Sea, to spite the ACC trying to invade NYC.

A few thoughts my Dear Redman07...
1.tell me when and where and I'll have my troops march forthwith!
2.REMEMBER in the 1800s, the south was winning the war but the Union ultimately
prevailed;
3.life takes strange unexpected turns and...
4. The ACC may yet rue the day they expanded and perhaps over-expanded
5. The key is for ST JOHNS TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE and for us NOT to focus on the enemy

Hope these hard win lessons have helped some

I like the idea of a power outage........ PLUS.....

A transit/transportation nigthmare around the Barclay Center, causing delays in the starts of all their games.

And hotel workers strike at the teams' hotels.

Boeheim, Coach K and little Ricky, being bitten by NYC rats.

Bed bugs in their hotels.

Muggings in Bklyn only..

A prostitution scandal Louisville-style.

Little Ricky getting caught doing it on a restaurant table downtown Bklyn,

taxi and über strike in BKLYN only..

Let's make it very hospitable for these louses from the South.

Go back under the Mason-Dixon Line, you hillbillies.
You forgot to mention traders from the north, ie. BC, Cuse, Pitt.

Ahhh
Let me see
1.You mean "traitors" as in Benedict Arnold who commanded the West Point garrison?
2.Or fellow West Point graduate Robert E Lee who with Stonewall Jackson was stationed in Brooklyn - before betraying the Union?

Trust me
This will all work out for the best

I Love it, very wise words! That last one is where I struggle a bit, but I will try my best...

I think that's exactly what he was getting at SSG. I feel Robert E. Lee does not get the vilification he deserves for leading the Confederacy. There is even a school "Washington & Lee" co-named after him in Va. Could you imagine a school named after Benedict Arnold?

F the ACC. The Pope should step in and demand ND and BC leave those anti-Catholic Hillbillys, or be excommunicated.

ESPN's Jay Bilas says ACC should have its eyes set on Madison Square Garden

He's right about NYC being the big stage. But not for a bunch of schools from primarily down South and not one is within 250 miles of MSG!

But I understand for Dolan and MSG, it's all about the money. And if they ever thought they could make more money by holding the ACC Tournament at the Garden, they'd dump the Big East in a heartbeat.

this is preposterous! the closest school to NYC from the ACC is boston college! the ACC must be stopped at all costs!

Oops. I take back my mileage comment. According to Mapquest, BC is 208 miles away from MSG. That's still a lot of miles and it's a 3 hour 44 minute drive.

If Maryland was still ACC they would have 2 within 250 miles. ;)

The Barclays center is an awful arena, even the Prudential Center is miles ahead. Last year for an Isles game they tried to charge me Import Beer Price for a Brooklyn Lager, I asked just how do you Import Brooklyn Lager to Brooklyn?

The LI Ducks Stadium in Central Islip did the same a few years ago (and might still do as I haven't been there in a few years) with Blue Point Beer. My quote was "I don't recall leaving the country and using my passport to go to the tasting room at their brewery, heck I didn't even leave the county!!!"

There was a documentary on WLNY about NYC players going to ACC country and playing college ball and how they were all glad to see the ACC come to NYC as NYC players is what put the ACC on the map.. Charlie Scott (who forgive me I had not idea was from Harlem, always thought he was from NC but apparently he started out at in HS in NYC before either preping at or moving to North Carolina) a, Bobby Cremins (All Hallows, South Carolina as a player back when they were still in the ACC and Georgia Tech as a coach), Kenny Anderson (Molloy and Geogia Tech), and Julius Hodge (St. Raymonds and NC State) were being interviewed in a barbershop in Harlem. I only caught a few minutes but they showed clips of other players but I think those were the only four at the barbershop.

Actually I would have liked to have seen the whole documentary but definitely could have done without the ACC propoganda portion of it.

Big East has the Garden for another 10 years, believe contract ends 2026.
Couple of key things:
-Boeheim, Pitino, Coach K, and Williams will be gone by then. Conference loses a bit of cache with the legendary coaches gone.
- ACC would have have to commit MSG long term for them to kick the big east out. Which I am not sure the ACC would and alienate Carolina fans. I think they like the rotation.

Finally, this is why it comes back to getting UCONN and an additional team into the big east. As much as the round robin is great, not one of the tournament games are sold out on ticketmaster as of now. This is going to be the ultimate problem. We need to sell out the Garden for all sessions. Brining UCONN and one additional base with Fans will do that. Also, Georgetown and St. John's need to improve.

I am a New Yorker, born and raised. I doubt many consider Robert E. Lee a traitor in the sense that Benedict Arnold was held.. Many Soldiers had agonizing decisions to make at the War's Beginning and Lee's struggle has been widely documented. He was not a Advocate for Slavery..

Have never read anything where anyone, Lincoln, Grant, Sherman ever uttered a word that implied Lee was a Traitor..

History tells us that our Nation Reunited after Appomattox in April 1865, after the War ended there were no Traitors, just US Citizens. And, Washington and Lee University is probably one of the 100 best schools in the Nation..

Calling Lee a traitor is like saying Sherman was a Arsonist. Lastly, asking this Pope a Question is not a good idea, Pope Francis has made a lot of confusing remarks and has Personal Values that sometimes conflict with our Faith's Doctrine.

It's important to point out that the ACC will be at Barclays Brooklyn this year and next (2018). The following two years (2019 and '20) they return to North Carolina. Good riddance.

We need to get good again. Hopefully we are a 1 or a 2 seed next year and play for it all on Sat keeping NYC media all on us.
