Not so at all. The media is reporting what states and countries are doing to battle this virus. I want to know what's happening, as depressing as it may sound. Reporting what is happening is not fear mongering. What would you want, no news at all?
I don't want this to devolve, but let's not be so obtuse not to all realize that there is a national election for president in less than 8 months, and every single event that can be politicized will be in an attempt to sway the electorate in one direction or another. Depending on your political orientation, you will either think the White house is twisting what is really happening, or the other side is trying to discredit the White house's attempt to deal with this in the public interest. I swear that we are getting very close to a house divided not being able to stand and while that happens, politicians hungry for power will gladly let that happen in order to seize or hold power.
Why do you always need to bring this back to party politics? Aren't you capable of having a conversation about media coverage without going there? and "Obtuse" is thinking that this POTUS is capable of handling this. He not.
Not only did completely get rid office in the white house that had been set up to prepare for pandemics, but he turned down testing kits from the WHO two months ago, in favor of developing kits on our own (that didn't work).
The WHO kits that would have enabled us to locate and isolate the areas where this first broke out and put us on a trajectory that would be more like S. Korea rather than Italy. Add to that that he's also continuously contradicted the advice and messaging of his own CDC and top health officials. For christsake, he went on national TV last night and blamed China and Europe for our having to deal with this Pandemic, bragged how low our affected numbers and deaths are when everybody knows they are are low because we haven't done any damn testing, AND he promised that the insurance industry was going to waive co-pays for testing and treatment, which was news to them since they only agreed to do that for testing. Biggest moment of his presidency and the white house had to issue what...3 separate statements today "clarifying" where he "misspoke" in an 11 minute speech he was reading from a teleprompter??
Sorry, but he and the rest of the Insane Clown Posse that is today's GOP, need to get out of the way and let the adults try to deal with this.
Keep your head in the sand. Believe, or don't believe what is unfolding right before your eyes, it doesn't matter any longer. Were past the point where you can be of any help, and the damage you've all caused is going to be on a scale that your having an sudden epiphany isn't going to make a measurable difference. This POUTS is a disaster.
ANYONE who thinks this guy is capable of handling this is delusional, and a danger to everyone else.
Thank the good lord that there is an election in 8 months. America will finally have a chance to install competent leadership again. And before you go off and claim I'm a liberal/socialist/Commie whatever, I'm not... I'm not even a democrat. And before you go on defending this moron, or blame the "fake" media aka everything not owned by Murdoch or the Sinclair family...for people who wants to defend this moron, just ask yourself where you think we'd be if Mitt Romney or John Kasich were POTUS?
This is a national emergency and you have a brain dead toddler controlling the levers of power in this country and party of psychopaths lined up behind him cowering in fear.
Sure there's an election coming up and his job performance is going to be used against him. It should be. He's the POTUS, not my UPS delivery guy.
rant complete...feel free to delete it if you want to Knight.
Yours is a completely partisan rant. Read the NY times, yes THE NEW YORK TIMES article about our preparedness to deal with this. We are in much better shape than many countries, but if the worst of it hits here the major thing we are missing according to the article is that we only have 62,000 ventilators, with 10,000 in national storage, when a 2005 report indicated that for a severe flue like virus we would need 250,000.
You point to the idiot in the white house doing nothing, and in 2005 that idiot had a different name than the one you castigate.
Notice I carefully did not make my rant partisan, but you obviously post that way. So, ya, no one really cares to hear that crap. You've posted repeatedly about this virus, and yes, every news story about the has a partisan politcian taking swipes at the other party. The problem with people like you is you cannot contain your rage and emotions and engage in civil discourse. It's endemic in this country, and I hate not being able to discuss serious serious subjects with otherwise intelligent people. Such is life.
You didn't make it partisan, but you didn't make it accurate or coherent either. Difficult, but well played.
