The Airing of the Grievances

Isn't it a little early for Festivous with the "Airing of Grievances". Next up Feats of Strength between Lawman and Fordham.

Maybe we will get a "Festivous Miracle" by one of the moderators Locking this thread and letting it proceed as Private Messages between the combatants in the Feats of Strength

You're probably right. Can you identify what started it?

I will always claim Hatten willing the team to the NIT Title and saving Jarvis's job. Could have made a good hire at that point but not after Pittsburgh. But could also cite hiring Brian Mahoney instead of doing a search for a coach with a history of success and accomplishment as a HC starting a string of mom and pop hires until Pitino.

that part of the college coaching job was his undoing.
Let's just be clear that by "undoing" you mean inheriting the worst team in the 100+ year history of the program; improving on that teams record every single year you coach; and reaching the mountain top Ncaa bid in year four, something the never had a losing record and the Hall of fame coaches that followed you were unable to do.

Maybe a little bit of truth to the Dave Parker/Bobby Bonilla syndrome where a long guaranteed contract causes you to mail it in. People around the school said he wasn't the same guy. In a different way once Jarvis was offered the Hornets job, he was suddenly too big to deal with college nonsense. Victims of their own success.
Jarvis was offered the Wizards job, but point made

Happy St Johnsfestivus. You can get the pole when Monte’s chick is done dancing

I am a fan when people wag their finger at fans who initially thought mike Anderson was a good hire. Because 99.9% of the time statements to the effect of "Anderson was a good hire", and they typically were MUCH more glowing and complimentary than that, were preceded or followed by posts that said something to the effect of 'Mullin sucks' and 'we're glad to be rid of him'. Which was blasphemy and wrong and as one astute poster duly noted, is probably the reason we're still mired in the curse today. Of course when it went official turned out that Mullin was a MUCH better hire than CFC and many words were eaten. Of course nobody ever apologized to our legend or admitted they were wrong.
Neither turned out to be a good hire.

If you look at the history of coaches (not including Clark who was an interim), after their first year, just about everyone (Mahoney, Fraschilla, Jarvis, Lavin, Mullin and Pitino) provided something that gave us hope and optimism whether it was because of recruits coming in, an uptick in wins and competitiveness. Even Roberts was changing the culture and stink of the previous regime.

I don’t want to take a step back but continued improvement.

You don't have to be a Shaka Smart fan, because I am not, to recognize that this hire by Marquette has worked out really well for both.

He is 75-29 with a 42-17 league record in 3 years. With 3 NCAA Tourney appearances, 1 regular season and 1 post season title. A tie for 2nd place finish and 2 BET final appearances and a 2 seed in the NCAAT in back to back years.

If Mike Anderson had done 1 of those things let alone all 3 of those things at SJU Mike Cragg would have given him a lifetime contract. Mike Anderson got an extension based on a 10-9 season in COVID. Smart went 17-3 and won an outright BE title in a year they were picked pre-season 8th.

With all due respect take the L and move on. To argue an indefensible position simply because you don't want to admit you were wrong about a hire says more about you then it says about the hire.
Whats your point? Who cares about Mike Anderson. Who even cares about Shaka Smart. Yes he is a good coach. This is an SJU thread. Also the fact you remember what one poster said about Anderson's hire when it originally happened (and honestly we all bought in the 40 minutes of hell never had a losing record when he was hired!). Lets move on. This is just a post to well complain lol. Move on

What exactly was the point of this thread? Fordham came in to start trouble and ran away. KEYBOARD WARRIOR lol
