The 2014 College Basketball Preview

Hey Joe, North Dakota State (an FCS school) just beat the reigning Big 12 champs in their house and Towson (also an FCS) beat UCONN, which is in a BCS conference. NDSU has now won 7 of their last 10 games vs. FBS schools.

So congrats, you found the white buffalo. The few upsets that ever happen. By the way, Towson beating UConn is not a big deal. Remember, I said RANKED and power conference. Not either or. There are schools that aren't that great in power conferences unranked like Virginia, UConn, Cuse, etc. so it's not nearly as meaningful. I still don't think you even named 5...you are up to 2 or 3. #2 Ohio State plays Buffalo soon...watch the score be 56-3.
Toledo expected to give top 10 Florida a tuff game on the road. we shall see.

Nah, probably another 42-10 blowout just like 99% of them.

Ranked power conference basketball teams do not lose to the St. Francis' of the world on their home floor very often.

Why do you keep making that one extra specification: "home floor"? Who cares what floor? If it's at Disney Land or Cameron Indoor, it still counts does it not?

That's what happens when you go to an ivy league school, you end up finding lax more compelling than college football. Hey, lots of folks watch Nascar as well. To each his own.
I love just about every sport but the only one my brother-in-law does like-car racing. Needless to say we are not close lol. Oh I said just about every sport but car racing-add lax to my short list and unless it's the finals of the World Cup-soccer. On topic would like to see us finish 23-7, win a game or two in BET and a game or two in NCAAs at minimum-recruit well enough to continue success nest year leading to a great 2015 class so this program can really take off.

PS after all that whats playing in the background? Tide v Hokies. Not that I'm watching, but I am listening.

Most unsatisfying 35-10 win ever! D and special teams were good but O was terrible. Hope someday us johnnie fans can hold our nose over a blow out score over a pretty good team. :)

Im sad about all the departures and the breakup of the BE. I used to root for BE FB. Now I don't know who to root for.

watched a little Villanova vs. BC. What happens to the new Big East if Villanova follows through on it's initial decision to move it's football program into the big time?

That ship has sailed.

They ll go to the AAC and the BE will have to add another team like St Louis or VCU. I don't think it will happen Villanova wanted to go to the ACC and that aint happening. Many schools loose money on FB.

Maybe UCONN will go FCS after losing to Towson.

They should consider it and join the Big East. Chasing football was a waste of time.

College sports madness has started their basketball preview countdown, so far they are up to #68 & they have not gotten to us yet. Only Big East schools reviewed have been Xavier at 76 & Seton Hall at 109.

Also, I picked up the Sporting News College Basketball preview issue today. As previously posted, they have us picked 7th. However what's interesting is that in the Big East review page they mention that we have 8 teams with legitimate NCAA Tournament hopes. Their prediction if anyone is interested is:

Marquette
Georgetown
Creighton
Villanova
Xavier
Butler
St. John's
Providence
Seton Hall
DePaul

I saw (I think) Lindy's on newsstands, too. They picked us for 6th in the BE.

Interesting thing was, they picked Butler for 3rd, and that was with the knowledge of the Roosevelt Jones injury. I don't see that as a possibility at all.

I think until we actually start showing the "so called" experts that we can shoot from the outside, can rebound with the big boys, can defend the 3 & make free throws, many college basketball gurus won't give us the respect. I know there has been some positive press as of late but even those articles have been more in the "we may be a surprise team" instead of actually saying we will be one of the teams to beat. That said, maybe it's better that they keep picking us 6th & 7th, it will be all the more sweeter when we prove them wrong.
