Texas and Oklahoma Reach Out to Join SEC

I personally think re-raiding the ACC makes more sense. I think Nebraska sticks out like a sore thumb there, although KU basketball + whatever fits way better than Nebraska football + whatever.

That won't do it as far as football is concerned.  None of those schools have the cache and pull that Texas and Oklahoma do.  B12 is finished as a major conference if this happens.

Big East should recruit Kansas.  Have the football program become an independent.

Cincinnati, Memphis , Houston and SMU possible replacements for the Big 12. They should just take all four and have it over with.

I never said that would cut it Fordham. Simply stating the current rumor going around. Would love Kansas in the Big East but they don’t really fit our profile. Kansas to the Big 10 makes a ton of sense especially with Nebraska already there.

I see Kansas as a better fit for the ACC.
I think I agree, although I think playing Creighton, DePaul, Butler, Xavier, and Marquette twice year a year, and only having to visit any three of St. John's, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Villanova, Providence, and UConn a year makes for a fairly non-taxing travel schedule. Plus they could literally get whoever they want for OOC games.

They will look out for their other sport programs also (though the basketball program is the crown jewel) and monetarily, the Big Ten and ACC offer a better payout.

Yup sounds like KU is in talks with B10.

My guess is if that happens B10 will add another B12 school, WVU or Okie St....

B12 will likely die here.
The scraps will get picked.  The big conferences will all go to 16 teams.

Yeah the B12 is cooked. It is all about TV revenue and no way they can add back firepower to replace OU and Texas that will generate a big TV deal. Just think of what the next SEC football contract will be?

And that is why Kansas being added to BE would've been sweet. Obviously no football type numbers but the next Fox/BE deal would be significantly more.

And the most recent NCAA basketball champ ends up where? They were among the teams in danger last time around when Big 12 seemed on verge of dying. But now they have an even bigger profile and still end up in a possibly bad situation.

By my count the following big conferences have the following spots open to get to 16 in football

ACC- 1 Spot
B10 - 2 Spots
Pac 12- 4 spots

With Texas and Oklahoma leaving the B12 that leaves 8 teams but only 7 spots.  So someone might get left totally in the dark.

Baylor-
Iowa State
Kansas- B10?
Kansas State
Oklahoma State
TCU
Texas Tech- Pac 12?
West Virginia- ACC?

When looking at potential Big East acquisitions, the profile should include......
  • Schools with solid, well-known programs (good for tv, good for us)
  • Schools without football programs
  • Schools that would gain revenue by moving to the BE (good for them)
Two programs that fit this profile are:
VCU
Wichita State

I feel like the Pac 12 wouldn't want any of them except for Kansas. Would they opt for a BYU or a Fresno St. or SDSU before taking someone like KSU just to get to 16?

Kansas clearly has the best options thanks to its basketball history. How would we rank the rest? I think West Virginia probably No. 2 because ACC needs a 16th team and they are closest. (Although I always thought Vandy was more of an ACC school than SEC.) OSU should probably be No. 3, but seems like a godforsaken place. Rest might have some worrying to do.

One thing to remember about WVU is that they are not exactly a academic powerhouse.  I think that specifically turned off the ACC.

kansas to big east.
the yanks have a better chance of winning the 2021 world series than kansas in the big east.
i thought i read on redmen com that ucant in the big east would solve everything.
no more covid for big east. tons of money for carnesecca arena a/c. money for nyiwe's statue.
all BET and BE games would be sellouts including standing room and there would even be long lines for the turlets.

Don't recall many/any saying Uconn to BE would solve our problems, but it does help make league remain competitive with others and maximize TV contract renewal negotiations.

The thing that saves them here might be that none of the leftovers are giving Harvard a run for its money either.

France is donating a statue of Nyiwe that’s bigger than the Statue of Liberty
