Syracuse, Sun. Dec. 13, 12pm, FS1 & 570 AM

Here's something we've never seen before: A Syracuse basketball coach handling a defeat with class.

that will be a great look into the Cuse future

btw I think Alibaba thinks he is Zinger now. Not that I mind but if he starts hitting 3's consistently omg that's going to be interesting

I've only seen the highlights, as I was not in attendance, but it seems like the threes we were draining were from way behind even the NBA arc which is insane. Big win, can't overstate how big it was with all those recruits there.

Fun game to be at this afternoon.

Alibegovic is putting a lot more arc on his 3-pt shots this year. It's nice to see that change. You can tell he is making a conscious effort to not line-drive it like he was doing last year. He's got a pretty good motion on his shot. Kudos to him.

Haven't watched the game yet, but saw the box score. Just 3 minutes for Balamou, did he get hurt?

As I indicated earlier Mullin didn't need a slasher against their zone. His plan was to utilize the double post and take open shots. Balamou is absolutely no shooter.

I missed the conversation earlier in this thread...

What recruits were at the game?

Per ZAGS;

.St. John's hosted a slew of recruits for the game, with Jordan Tucker, Naz Reid, Andre Rafus, Nate Pierre-Louis, Jahvon Quinerly and Luther Muhammad among those sitting courtside....Hutchinson (KS) Community College wing Bashir Ahmed visits Texas beginning Monday and comes to St. John's Dec. 18-20, where he is expected to see two games...Fresh off the Syracuse win, St. John's assistant Matt Abdelmassih flies to Germany on Monday to watch 2016 Richard Freudenberg, considered a strong St. John's lean.

Haven't read the whole thread since the game ended but what a great win for this program at this juncture and what a good week for the Big Eas!! To me the play of Alibegovic was the best thing to come out of this win. 15pts and 9 Boards, if he can give us anything close to that game after game this team will be good, He shot the ball with confidence today also. Yakwe was really good also. Mussini we knew could shoot and with no pressure D it allowed him to just square up and shoot and relax in the offensive sets. Always great to beat Cuse!!

I thought Amar played great and with tremendous energy today. The only issues were he isn't athletic enough on the defensive end to defend the rim and took a bunch of fouls. He also really struggled against the athletic pressure of Cuse off inbounds.

Great contribution to todays win. Mullin better put some glue on Amar's feet, leaves himself open for fouls by leaving his feet.

Gil, who was the tall lanky kid with the red scarf and brown ski hat in the row behind the team. He was enjoying this win like one of us. Perhaps it was Owens, but looked younger.

Section 114 was pulling hard for Yakwe to pull the General out of his self imposed exile. His inspired play has proven the General's point beyond any doubt.

If the ref's didn't mess up that call where he had the dunk but they didn't give him the continuation and called it on the floor instead of it being an and one....Yakwe would've at least had as many points as Moose

I miss the Generals posts and he is spot on about Yakwe

By the way, the cuse fans around us were not too obnoxious today. We almost felt sorry for them. The look on their faces showed that they know their future will be similar to what BC has endured since they left for greener pasture.

Agree on cuse fans around me in 116. Although they were not the young obnoxious types. Actually enjoyed chatting with them. If anything, I was the obnoxious one lol

Monte,
We were more obnoxious too, but we earned it by enduring the down years sitting with them when they were assh$les.

I know there have been a number of comparisons between Yakwe and some of our past players, including Berry, Sealy etc...

But, I see David Russell...great hops, nice jump hook, limited jump shot

I go back far.
Russell is a good analogy.

Who would've thought. Johnson WAS an unstoppable g-force and Lavin was the only one who said we'd win.

Lavin has been real positive when talking about us. Hope we can end the criticism and enjoy our new journey.
Go Johnnies!

Agreed, happy for him. Seems he has a pretty good gig. He's on FS1 and Big Fox quite a bit. Think I've seen him providing analysis for the majority of Fox Big East games this year.

True, but then he wouldn't be able to rebound like he did today (9 big ones), including that electrifying slam put-back that got the place rocking. (When that happened, I think we all asked ourselves, Who is this guy?)

Taking that dunk away from Yakwe was total BS. It wasn't even a play that called for a continuation. He was clearly going up before he got hit.
