Syracuse, Sun. Dec. 13, 12pm, FS1 & 570 AM

Mvouvika 10 pts., 6 reb., 4 asst. Good steady influence.

Mature without Durand's expectations. Though DJ did play pretty well and bit more controlled today.

Great win! Fun to be there.
Nice to have a great staff who run offensive sets!
A little at times handling the press but overall what a day!

Great freaking win! Everyone who got minutes contributed.

And thank god our staff had the balls to invite the recruits they did to today's game!!

Damn missed the game my cable went out yesterday and just came on at 3pm Great win

Props to former Coach Lavin on AAs play, may it continue and hopefully this was his breakout party. Also props to him for calling the upset last week. ;)
Glad to be wrong. ;)

Yes, but imbecilic of him to comment on how we played against their zone. His teams were never coached on how to do it.

I thought we beat them in Syracuse, Lavin must have been lucky.

Come on Lav, don't post here any more. It is just not right.

Such a great win in so many ways. Great balanced scoring, especially by guys that will be here for a while. Mussini, Yakwe, Sima, AA.

Would love to get Ellison back, and Lovett too.

Just a great game plan by the staff.

Was MSG really sold out?

Hopefully we still see improvement from Johnson. Still surprised by nice olay from Jones.

There will still be some lumps along the way, but you can start to see the potential for these kids and this staff.

It would be nice to maybe get a couple more commitments soon.

A pleasure to watch. Jet's could wait until 2 pm. Almost wire to wire. Wish the box score had the minutes. Never noticed Felix wasn't out there but was in the box, must have been early. Lavin & Marshall said you have to pass and not dribble to break the zone. 20 assists is amazing. Yakwe with 15. And to go after the Syracuse writers for saying Syracuse would win by 10? I didn't see too many of our members predicting victory. Some said close, many in the blow out category. Again, that is why you play the game. May there be more like this one during this season.

Congrats to #20 on his first signature win at his alma mater. The first of many to come. Everyone one stepped up and balled out today. First time in 22 years we have consecutive wins against the Orange.

Great to see you espken.
Wow, this really was a great win.

. Wish the box score had the minutes. Never noticed Felix wasn't out there but was in the box, must have been early

I think the last we saw of him was him missing the corner 3. But then Amar has the game of his life

So much fun to watch. The zone allowed us to win and no press kept us fresh. This is how this team could play with Lovett.

Were there potential recruits confirmed to be at today's game? Also, was Ponds in da house?

Great win and the future looks promising. A Storm is brewing.

Great win! Johnson knocking the rust off his jump shot finally. Mussini finally got open a few times after giving up the ball. He'll be great once he can play off the ball more. Yakwe, Mvoika and Ali contributing. Sima already better than Obekpa. Jones very steady.

They keep getting better. Has to be a big confidence builder. Even though Syracuse front court guys are soft. Terrible defense and rebounding effort on their part.

I watched that niagara game thinking wow we are going to get destroyed this weekend.

After playing that poorly I thought our team would not have any confidence. They came out and were letting it fly and hitting.

Great offensive strategy. How about Yakwe? That dude isn't scared of anybody. Yea his post moves need some work and he rushes sometimes, but he showed me I was way off about his game. He has a touch around the rim that I didn't think he did.

Great job all around. Johnson, Mussini, Sima, AMAR. Great game. Great win.

Hi Jack!
I am violating my self-imposed banishment which is to end when Yawke leads the team in scoring ( after an apparent controversial topic I started comparing Yawke to Mullin the their first game ppm performances)

I appreciate your comments on this fine young player - he will never be Chris Mullin the second
But as Coach Chris Mullin himself said Yawke can become a very fine or better player...after today's performance, he might well lead the team in scoring this season and my banishment might end sooner than I anticipated.

I neither saw nor heard the game - my son attended and kept me somewhat abreast. I wonder if it will be re-shown somewhere???
Thanks for you reflections on Yawke!

Thanks for all these posts on the W! I have a feeling we will have a few more surprising Ws and horrible Ls.

All the best. Back into exile.

I wasn't aware the entire group was at today's game....

Great and important win for this young squad. But I thin we are already seeing that these kids have real talent, and that the staff knows what it is doing. It's like night and day compared to the past 10 plus years. It is refreshing and wonderful.

Someone said before that this portends some surprises this year, but this was surprise #1. More to come I hope (and think). I echo the praise for Yakwe and it conforms for me that we have a really good player in him, both defensively and offensively. And, hopefully Amar is coming around. If we can get anywhere near that kind of production from him (especially the rebounding), watch out.

Only thing that would have made this better is if Boeheim was on the bench and had to sit through it.

We are New York's team!. One word says it all --" PREPARED." From the first half on our switching man to man defense was exceptional. Mullin using a double high post and no passes to the corner avoiding double teams. Sima and Yakwe certainly not looking like freshmen, confident enough to take pressure shots. Amar, Durand and Federico taking and making bombs behind the pro line.
This is what Madison Square Garden can do for you. We are New York's team!

What a win , I am speechless.
A huge thank you to knight, t x redman, Otis, mcnpa , 88 grad and everyone else who provided updates on this wonderful thread to those who could not see the game.
Lucky maher, Paultzman and all others who I am sure are at the game. I sure they had a ball :)

Happy to help!!.....I needed to post to help relieve my stress level!.....9:00 a.m. Sunday games are tough on the ticker!!....

I hear you. An hour after the game, I was still so wired that I had to take a Xanax. I'm convinced I'm going to die watching a game, but as long as it's a big win (like today's), I suppose it's not a bad way to go.
