Yes but he’s not as prolific a scorer as Jenkins and no where near as good a distributor.Has to be Cruz Davis. He was at Iona and knows the system

Agreed, but he would still be the best option after Jenkins. Unless Wilcher matures quickly.Yes but he’s not as prolific a scorer as Jenkins and no where near as good a distributor.
We'd be even more screwed if Soriano got injured but you can say the same thing about lots of teams if their best players get hurt. I like this teams' depth overall.Yes but he’s not as prolific a scorer as Jenkins and no where near as good a distributor.
I think that once Luis gets back we will see the true depth of this team. We'd be even more screwed if Soriano got injured but you can say the same thing about lots of teams if their best players get hurt. I like this teams' depth overall.
Ledlum and Dingle for now, lets not think about it...DJ was very impressive today especially after the early jittersMy one concern is what happens when Jenkins is out? Wilcher is no where near ready to lead or contribute.
I completely disagree on Ludlum. I have him at 29 mpgMy thoughts…
Very easy opponent but also the first game with a completely overhauled roster...so can't go too crazy in either direction.
Jenkins - Good playmaker, great energy on both ends, and very athletic. 6 turnovers are way too much, though, and he had another 3-4 dribbles around his chin that would have been steals against better competition. I liked his drive and kick to the corner the most...he's got a good pull-up jumper off the pick and roll as well.
Ledlum - Unreal offensive rebounding. He bumbles with ball on his drives, so the new charge rule will really help him. He's just got to pick his spots. He's probably best at 28 MPG so he gets enough rest to stay active. He had some slow feet on the defensive glass. Shot looks good when he's set. I like him posting up down low...would like it better if he passed out of it.
Alleyne - Best shot of the night was an inside-out to Alleyne for a set three. That's going to be one of the best shots this team has all season. His defense was steady as can be. He needs more shots. I feel like Soriano and Ledlum posting up will give him and Dingle space all year if they are willing to pass it back out.
Taylor- Very good glue guy. Quick feet and good size to help Ledlum on the defensive glass. Very good defensive potential. If he could just add some finishing moves around the basket he could be really good.
Conway - I thought he looked good. He wasn't playing with any confidence early. He got some swagger with the three on the dish from Jenkins. His defense is fine even though he was beaten badly once. He's much more athletic that Dunlap.
Wilcher - Insanely quick feet on defense. He really stands out. A little too active with his hands, but that's what freshmen do early. Very high defensive potential. The college game is moving a little too fast for him on offense right now, but that's to be expected.
Dingle - Looks like he needs some conditioning, but he's 10x as skilled as anyone else we have on offense besides Luis. He's got to touch the ball more and we have to set him up for shots. We need 20+ from him against Michigan, so Ledlum and Jenkins need to take a step back there.
Dunlap and Davis have the longest arms I've seen in a while. Almost Kevin McHale proportions.
Soriano is so steady on both sides...no wasted movements, but he's got some heavy feet. He was beaten vertically a lot tonight on the glass by the SB big man. I don't mind him taking that open 15 footer or a wide open 3 like that first one he hit. He's got a decent drive as well when he picks his spots.
A reminder about forecasting players in November:
Three years ago we thought Vince Cole was going to be Reggie Miller after one game.
To be fair you usually say everyone stinksI said Cole stunk from day one. Even when he hit the game winner. I was excoriated by the Board.
Newsday won't let your read the story unless you subscribe.St. John's opens Pitino's tenure with impressive win over Stony Brook
Hired in March, the Hall-of-Fame coach strode onto the floor to a raucous ovation from the sell-out crowd at Carnesecca Arena. Joel Soriano had 22 points on 9-for-11 shooting and 11 rebounds.www.newsday.com
Ledlum may be the latest in the singleton, middleton, glover , t grant line. Great company to be in.Agree on Zuby, disagree on Ledlum. Ledlum may not be big but he has a nose for the ball, a quick first step and he’s smart. He swill give some 4s fits. But agree about front court depth.
Lol, I’m certainly not sunshine and rainbows but I generally don’t go after the players. To be fair you usually say everyone stinks
Committee is the only approach. Luis should help a lot there. Davis-Dingle-Taylor-Luis 1-4 at Charleston...run some of that weave they had going tonight. Wilcher come December. My one concern is what happens when Jenkins is out? Wilcher is no where near ready to lead or contribute.
