I've always felt that Lavin is a west coast type of personality. While he was outwardly friendly, I don't think he made a lot of friends at SJU, and didn't really connect with people in a genuine way. I'm not sure that his departure bothered anyone in the AD because I don't think he cultivated the type of relationships with staff that you might expect. Some people around here have said he wasn't around all that much, and they may be right.
In any event, wish him well. He's not a bad guy, but the west coast just suits him better.

From what i hear on campus.. Mullin Inc. are rubbing ALOT of people the wrong way... pssst.. this aint the NBA/KU gents... a handshake & a smile isnt much to ask for.. straight out snubbing ur fanbase/students/staff is pathetic imo... Dont get me wrong, i love the job these guys have been doing... hope they get the message.

I'd really like to know exactly what's been happening in that regard. I remember hearing Jonah Hill tell a story about how some people approached him a restaurant and asked for a photo and autograph while he was eating. Retelling the story he said he politely told them several times if they could wait until he was finished eating. After the third polite request by Hill, the "fans" started cursing and berating him.
I'd like to hear details. That isn't the Mullin many of us have met over the years.

Can you give some examples?

I've heard two examples personally... one from a university employee & the other a student... all I'll say is that coach Mullin himself was not the problem... it was the rest of the staff.... hopefully its just two isolated examples... once again, LOVE THE JOB they've been doing... peace!
