I was not under any impression that there was anything I could do about it. But I plan to continue to bitch and moan all the same until it's addressed, if for nothing less than that is what sports message boards are primarily for. :)

Wish Mullin had more experience before playing Broadway, but the show must go on with what we've got until..........
Chicago, Knight
We all agree losing stinks. And we love our Red Storm. And we keep as optimistic attitude as we can.
Now, as I’ve posted before,
at my age repeating oneself is part of the package lol,
This (what we have NOW and
what we are NOW)
is the best available so let’s ride it out and let the progress - incremental as it is - continue!!!
And as to a possible quantum leap in progress - start your engines and
Let the bigger time progress begin!!!
lol
Gen, I pretty much agree, but when you said our Red Storm the hair on my neck stood up.

I would respectfully suggest that bitching and moaning are not what any message board is “primarily for”. Bring something to the table once in a while. I could care less who closes on recruits. Frankly, I could care less HOW we recruit as long as we get players. What exactly are you bitching about? The last time I looked we have a full roster of pretty highly rated players, not the cream, but certainly a credible, competitive roster. Really the lowest rated players (if you put a lot of faith in those things, which I don’t, after #15 or so it essentially becomes a crap shoot) we have are Dixon and Caraher, who have both proven to have legitimate talent at a lower D1 level and Earlington, who most agree was a gamble worth taking. Yes, we don’t have the “big” many mistakenly believe is the only thing between us and the tourney. We had a potential tourney team last year and it went sideways because of a quitter, who the last time I checked was not remotely a “big”. IMO we have a potential tourney team this year provided Ponds returns, which I feel he will. I think his eye is on the NBA, not Europe and I don’t think he is ready. But then I didn’t think LoVett would quit last year either so who knows. As for the coaching staff, after last year most (including me) complained about our defense, we needed to improve our defense which we did big time but the coaching criticism continues full bore. I am far from ready to fit Mullin for a Coaches HOF jacket but reading this board you would think he is the Alfred E. Neumann of coaching. And he is not. We have been/are in the conversation for some of the best players in the country and while we have not gotten them and are not going to get them IMO, we are at least in the picture at all not because we weren’t recruiting no matter what you and others want to try and insist on.

I think bitching and moaning are a good part of what goes on on this site. So what?
Guys, not trying to be negative. Everything I'm hearing about Figueroa is positive, sounds like a terrific signing. A great job by the staff there, no question about it.

My original comment was in reaction to the line in the article how we seem to just be looking for a front court reserve now, and not a starting caliber big. That simply seems misguided to me.

We're adding Keita, I understand that. But this idea that we are just "set" now with Clark as our starting 4, is interesting considering he averaged 4.7 boards in 30 minutes last year and seemed like more of a perimeter guy. We were 335th out of 351 D1 teams in rebounding margin last year. Again, I don't mean this as a knock on Clark, who I happen to love - love his attitude, leadership, he's a quality shooter, etc. etc. My point is only that I still think we are one starting caliber big man short. That's it, not trying to be super negative.
Listen Windy City you can vent all you want and make your points. Last time I looked it was a free world, maybe not so with the progressives. This forum allows one to disagree with other opinions. Let's remember we have no real idea whether we'll settle for a reserve or someone who will push Keita to less playing time. I have faith in our staff.
It is mind boggling to read the comments of the nay sayers and Anti Mullin Crew that give so little credit to Mullin and the Staff for getting a diamond in the Rough player like Figueroa but, bemoan the over abused view that we have no Big Man . Next year we have Keita at 6’8” and 240 pounds to pair with Clark , Simon, Figueroa, and potential BE Player of the Year and National Player of the Year , Shamorie Ponds ! Shamorie , Justin, Marvin and Figueroa could average individually from the mid teens to the Mid 20’s in Scoring . And , Keita , who has been dismissed by many Amateurs , was a highly recruited Player by Martin at SCarolina. He could easily contribute more than Owens in the Paint . Also , Dixon , a known quality at SG or PG , is certain to play major minutes as is Trimble as a designated 3 shooter . The Off Whining and Moaning is a worn out tune and those singing it , need a hiatus . Most Posters know who that group consist of .
Why the short post? We seemingly have one ready to play big in Keita. Have you ever heard of foul trouble, injury, illness, personal matters, academic issues, etc.? The desire for one more big is not so outlandish now is it? Great pick up in LJ F nothing like a guy that can really score the ball.

What if the head coach wasn't the leading scorer in school history?
Would everyone still blindly defend him ?

He wouldn't have been hired.

Nowhere else can fans turn a positive piece on an incoming college basketball player and turn it into a thread about the coach. Don't we have enough of those threads?

I think that it's the fact that people repeat the same thing in every thread about a big man. It's a broken record. Why can't the topic which in this case is about LJ, just be about him? Some how in every thread, it goes back to the need for a big. Everyone knows we could use a big, including the staff. LJ is a legit player. 4 star out of HS, dominant freshman all American in JC. Welcome aboard LJ. Look forward to you and the team having a great year!

C’mon man, we’re NY fans!
You make a good point sjc88, and most of us are surprised and excited to have gotten LJF. And looking forward to the 2018-19 season.
No doubt about that.
But we’re anxious and frustrated and concerned about what is looking like a ‘no-show-for-no reason’ by our HC at signature high-PR April HS recruiting events—featuring our top targets for the critical 2019 class.

No problem so take your comments about our no show head coach to the Mullin thread or the April Events thread , but why does the same crap have to be repeated in each and every thread ?
We got it, we need a big and Mullin is not as present as he should be.
It is absolutely nauseating to have the same garbage pollute every thread.
Last weekend we got 3 very good commitments. I choose to be happy with the recent surprise commitments and look forward to a better product on the floor this season.

This was my fault i think, but in my defense the thread was about the article in the Post, not the player generally - and my comment was about a ridiculous line in the article that said we are apparently targeting a reserve big man now and not a starter. I thought you just targeted the best possible player you could convince to come. In any event, I think the discussion took off from there. I will do my best to stay on topic going forward.

Ok we get it you hate Mullin. No need to keep repeating the constant negativity in every single thread. Contribute something.
