Jones has potential, but he plays soft.

By the way, remember Myles Stewart comes from a good HS program.

He may still be tentative with the knee. From what I recall two years ago, he was pretty aggressive in the Marquette game. Hopefully he can get back to that level soon and then build from there. He has skills.

Can't judge by anything today, but Jones has skills, but relentless rebounding is not one of them. Stewart does seem to know the game quite well.

Adonis somewhat reminds me of Hibbert when he first came to G'town. Not many fans were expecting much from him, as he was not in shape and somewhat green.

Both of 'em had/has evident skills.

Agree. Adonis has skills. In time with hard work he will be a solid player.

Adonis has skills but needs to lose 50 lbs in order to have an impact this year
Stewart and Henderson have a nice shooting touch
Jones is a big strong guy that, unfortunately, doesn't play like one

Agree with both points

@CBarcaSTJ: Phil Greene IV led all scorers with 21 points. Harrison 19, Jordan 17, Pointer 13, Delarosa 10. Regular season starts Friday. #SJUBB

Jordan with 6 steals and no turnovers. Much better game from him today to go along with 17 points.

@DalyDoseOfHoops: Steve Lavin: "Adonis De La Rosa made some progress, took a step in the right direction. He saw the results from his practices carry over."

@CESPN1: Lavin: We are hoping Obekpa will be back on Monday. Same injury he had last season. Re-aggravated it. #sjubb

@DalyDoseOfHoops: Steve Lavin: "We have to devise alignments and schemes defensively to where his (Obekpa's) minutes are between 28 and 35."

@DalyDoseOfHoops: Steve Lavin: "Naturally, with Obekpa injured, that's the worst case scenario for us to start the season, with a player of that magnitude."

@DalyDoseOfHoops: Steve Lavin on Rysheed Jordan: "He had zero rebounds at the half. That's the same amount of rebounds as a dead man." #sjubb

Okay, then. A bit of a message at halftime, huh?

Putting the competition in perspective, the team certainly seemed to come together during this game. Long way to go, but some good signs in this one. Can't wait to get the real games started now.

I didnt see the game last week, but I thought they looked ok today. Not where they need to be in january, but OK.

It's very clear to me that Branch needs to be the primary point guard. We are just far more effective when Dangelo Rysheed and/or Phil can play off the ball.
He's not a perfect player, but JB creates opportunities when he's on the court. It's a no - brainer at this point.

Dangelo Rysheed and Phil looked like what I expected they would. Which is to say, where 90% of our scoring will come from.
I'd like to see Rysheed shoot less 3s (or make more of them), but he'll be fine. He looks to have bulked up, and should play as our sf/wing more this season.

ADR needs to lose weight. Everyone knows this. But his touch is as good as it was in hs. He's a skilled offensive player.

Amar and Jones need to improve quickly. We're going to need one or both of them to contribute, and they're just not very good rebounding or defensively right now.

Last but not least, wear a freaking suit and tie, you're not a hs gym teacher or Italian guy at a deli.

Branch needs the keys. Phil doesnt get going if branch isnt at the one and Dom is at the four.

Fwiw, I think if Sampson was back and Dunlap was still here, this would definitely be a team that makes the tournament.

Unfortunately those are two very big missing pieces.
