After seeing this Lawrence and Jordon will be a hard sell

Wish coach does something other than stand with his arms folded Shooting 29%

OK we now know branch is no the answer to this team

Regarding Branch, he may not be "the answer" but he showed that he belongs in the starting lineup. Granted, a lot of his scoring came late in the game, but he did shoot 7-11 (2-4 from three-point range) and, unlike Phil Greene, doesn't dribble frenetically (and unproductively) from side to side near half-court until the clock runs out. I'll be very disappointed -- p.o.-ed, actually -- if he doesn't start the next game. Greene is simply out of position and over his head at the point and his shooting has become more and more inconsistent with each game.

AM BEGINNING TO DOUBT WHETHER LAVIN IS AS GOOD AS A BENCH COACH AS HIS B.E. RIVALS.....COMING INTO THIS GAME,J.T. HAD A TEAM THAT SCORED LESS THAN 50 PTS PER GAME RECENTLY AND THEY SCORED AT WILL.....WHY NOT SJ? THESE PLAYERS WERE HIGHLYRATED IN H.S.....SEEMS THAT SJ CANT WIN BY COMINIG FROM BEHIND...AND CANT KEEP LEADS....THINK LAVIN BETTER SUITED AS RECRUITER..AND BASED ON ESPN REPTS ABOUT HOW MUCH EACH SCHOOL OF THE C7 WILL GET FROM FOX====60/12 TEAMS..SJ CANT AFFORD LAVIN SALARY UNLESS REDMEN START WINNING 20 GAMES(MAYBE NEXT YR,WHEN WEAKER OPPONENTS WILL BE THE NORM)(AS IN NORM ROBERTS)

Branch not the answer? Well as far as I'm concerned he along with Harrison and Sampson are the only shooters on this team. He showed he can penetrate and move the ball upcourt. I've been waiting for him to take shots; finally he took the opportunity today.

Unfortunately this type of game kills program in 2013. Lots of reverberations from this type of game.

Wonder if lavin will stick it out here, maybe too steep of a hill to climb.

Tough to sell the turnaround after a day a like today, but its one game. A terrible game, but just one game.

On the upside, I don't see anything that makes me think we're going to lose Harrison, Sampson or anyone else to the NBA next season. We'll be a little older and smarter. We'll have Gift or another big man. Might have to evaluate if the staff needs another teacher/strategist.

Don't like what I see today, but should get better.

If Lavin is leaving us on his own he's going straight back to the analyst desk

That would surprise me. Coach seems like a competitor and I can't see him giving up that fast.

I hate to drift into coach-speak and excuses, but we are young. We have some talent. Plenty of work to do, but I wouldn't expect Lavin to walk away from what he's started here.

This team was picked dead last in pre-season, and that's when the voters thought Sanchez would be eligible.
This one is on the team, nor the coach.

Not the coach? Who's responsible for our lousy zone defense that permitted the Hoya's from walking through the middle for easy baskets? Who's responsible for our lack of offense against a zone defense?

Here I am watching a pathetic Johnnies performance and Lavin does not even consider using Jones and Bourgault. Oh yeh I forgot Lavin obviously thought he had a chance, trailing by 20 plus points with five minutes remaining. Here was a time to see whether or not Jones can hit the boards; certainly he can score in close.

this was the first game of the season that was tough to watch. i knew georgetown was better than they had been playing of late, but didnt expect it be a blowout. It is becoming ever more clear that we only have one scoring option on offense, and if the opponent shuts Harrison down...we are in for a game like this.

the players we have are at their best on the break and slashing, outside Jakarr and Harrison, you can see no one feels comfortable shooting the ball outside 15 feet. Going to be a tough season if some one doesn't step up as a viable option. Hopefully Branch can become the facilitator he was billed to be. Again would have liked to have seen CJones get in...surprised Lavin let him see the floor down 20 with 5 to play

I agree Jack. Branch needs to be out there all the time. He can score and he runs the team more efficiently. He needs to be out there playing starter minutes so he can get into the flow of the the game.

Pointer also needs to be on the floor as much as possible. He the most active player we have out there on both ends of the floor.. He plays defense and he even hit a three at the end of the game ( not that I expect that from him).

Marco needs to get more time and they need to run plays for him so he can get some shots. He's one of our only shooters.

Have to praise Pointer for another excellent performance. Man, he's all over the court with his steals, blocks and outstanding hustle. Keep it up Sir Dom.

Agree- tough game to watch, didnt expect to get blown out, but games like this are going to happen with the team we have. Simply were not competing today. I am not saying throw in the towel even with 5 minutes to play, crazier things have happened in college bball, but it would have been a good time to try a diff lineup and give branch a shot at driving and kicking to Marco or to see if Jones could do work down low.

Borgault has to play more and they have to run play for him to get him the ball in good shooting position. I don't understand our offensive system. no one moves without the ball. It seemd to be all picks and isolations today. Everyone just standing around waiting for D'Angelo to do something. Jones should have abosolutely played in that second half. He has shown some offensive ability.

Just returned from the game. Again our season continues on as eerily similar to last year. See below:

Last year we beat Cincinnati on the road by 2 and lost to Villanova in overtime in a game we could have easily won. Also we were narrowly beaten by Rutger's by 3 and were blown out by Georgetown at Home by 20

This year we beat Cincinnati on the road by 1 and lost to Villanova in overtime in a game we could have easily won.
Also we were narrowly beaten by Rutger's by 2 and were blown out by Georgetown at home by 16.

Some non -negative thoughts: Pointer played well, Branch wasn't awful and Obekpa had some nice blocks. Georgetown's defense was stifling. That is about the extent of anything I could find in this game that is not rant worthy.

It was just mostly a terrible performance today. I am not sure why this season is so closely mirroring last because I think we should be better than last year but the results have not shown that.

I know others have worried about some guys leaving to play in the NBA but no one on this team seems NBA ready right now. Hopefully this group can find their groove but I think it needs to start on the defensive side of the ball. Our offense is triggered by our defense and unless we are intense on defense we are not very good right now.

This team barely has a 2nd scoring option. Sampson is the only one that can be counted on to score after Harrison. I think Sampson will have his inconsistencies in conference play. We do not have a third scoring option to speak of. None!

I would just use 10-11 players, and just press the dickens outta teams. Turn the game into a helter-skelter show.

I would say Branch can become our third option but he has to take more shots. Of course, prior to this game he didn't exactly get many opportunities which probably kept him from shooting the ball.

there was one instance where Branch found him wide open from 10 feet away and he started dribbling looking to pass. He needs to go right up with that. What good is it to have a PG that can actually hit an open man if they dont take the shot. Once again we are a team where the parts are greater then the sum. Obepka, Sampson Harrison. Come on, we cant suck this bad.

We're gonna have to play a style that caters to their skillset.

I couldnt watch the game, too painfull.Turned off the TV after we were stuck on 10 points for eternity. The score was something like 29 -10 at the time.

If the MSG scoreboard is correct Branch and Harrison combined for 1 assist, garnered in the last 10 minutes of the game.

The ball simply doesn't move enough. Too much dribbling.

What has Borgault done to merit more playing time. There is a chicken and egg here - he needs to play better to play more, and likely needs to play more to play better. So far, he doesn't look like a D1 impact player, but that's only in a cameo role.

On the team, not the coach?

He recruited them. It's his job to put them in the best position to score and defend. If they can't shoot, run play sets where they can score easy buckets. He knew they weren't shooters when he recruited them. Ok, adjust to what you recruited.

Curious, but what woudl you have done differently? This team doesn't shoot well, doesn't have tremendous size, and isn't loaded with heady basketball players. Garrett looked horrible today, Obepka blocks shots but little else, Sampson is still a raw talent, Pointer hot and cold on offense. Harrison is a streaky shooter who is very good at his best and of little value when he is off. Branch got major minutes today, but didn't exactly look like the general he is purported to be. One or two games doesn't make a season, and they aren't as bad as the last two games, or as good as the team that beat Cinncinati. However, overall, this group on potential alone may be a bit overrated.

May be that Jones and Bourgault have been given their walking papers.Possibly they do not fit into our nonworking defense and are unable to stand around and watch Harrison on offense.
