Regardless of how upset we all are right now, it means there are things far more important than basketball. Have to leave it at that for the time being.

Agreed, there’s more to life than basketball. People tend to forget, including myself, that Chris came in as a rookie coach, no matter how great of a player he was.

With that said, cryptic posts are the worst. People should refrain from posting things like that, especially when it seems to be a quite serious matter.

Enough said. That resets my emotions. Hope everyone is okay. Basketball is just the toy department.

Agree. Hope everyone associated with the team is ok health wise. Disappointing end to the regular season for the kids, staff and fans, but as others have said it is only a game in the end. I'll watch them on TV Wednesday and hope to get to see them play at the Garden against Marquette on Thursday evening.
The ENTIRE coaching staff should be embarrassed for the way this team was prepared. No fire, no passion , no pride!!!
Watching them on the bench last night especially, they all looked clueless. No answers. So disappointing. Time to clean house completely, and I mean Matt too. Love what he has tried to do, but if all he can do is deliver transfers, we can get a less expensive solution. We need a committed staff that can game plan, make adjustments in-game, recruit the right level if players, balance the roster position-wise, and DEVELOP players. Nothing everyone else hasn't already said.

He was a 50 year old man with zero coaching experience who was handed a head coaching job. He gets paid over $2 million dollars a year to basically be a figure head because he clearly doesn't recruit or coach. So no, I am not listening to the rookie coach argument. Travis Steele is a rookie coach too, yet he finds a way to get his players ready to play every game.

As I've said repeatedly, he shouldn't have been hired in the first place. The guy has a conference winning % of .278 in 4 years! How is this just accepted? I really hope Mike Cragg takes control of this situation because there is no way Mullin should be back on the sidelines next year.

There shouldn't have to be a life event to wake adults up to the fact that this is ajust a game.

As you back off some horrible personable stuff you wrote, know that far worse than failures to win are disgusting and despicable personal attacks. Apologies and prayers after fact doesn't make you human or respectable.

Agreed. There seems to be a new contingent of losers who have come out of the woodwork as the team goes through it’s worst struggle of the season. How predictable.

Thanks, SLY. I will be staying with my youngest daughter who recently got engaged and had already promised to take them out to dinner Wednesday night to celebrate their good news. Fortunately we are playing in the 9:30 game Wednesday so gives us plenty of time to get back to their apartment to watch the Johnnies hopefully beat Depaul. Hoping Karnak is on the money because I will be there all day and evening on Thursday.

Reading this board, it seems that most likely Mullin will step down regardless of outcome.

A lot of people say getting a new staff would be "starting over", but I don't agree with that. I think a new, highly respected coaching staff could actually help retain some of our current players. Ponds I assume is gone no matter what, but everyone else (besides Clark) could still come back.

To be able to bitch and moan about a basketball team is a luxury a good part of the people in this world don't have. For anyone lucky enough to live in this country, personal issues, problems and sometimes tragedy render the results of a St. John's game less important. There is the flip side: watching a team you love play well is wonderful therapy to get your mind off the problems of the day. watching them struggle is a fan's struggle too. This season just flew by. I wish, with all the disappointment, that it would go on longer.

Sometimes we judge ourselves by our good intentions, but we are judged by our last worst act.

I think there's a middle ground here IMO. I don't see anyone (unless I missed it) arguing that serious life events or hardships are more important than a sport (goes without saying). Personal attacks against any coaches or players are unwarranted and cheap. However, so are personal and unwarranted attacks on posters critiquing coaches on their performances. Let's debate the real expectations and results gap instead of attack. Let's debate objective stats. Critiquing coaches on their performance specifically is 100% warranted and every fan of every team will do so and is their right to do so if they wish.

You can simultaneously agree that it's wrong to personally attack coaches and also agree that it's wrong to personally attack posters. You can also agree that sports are not as serious as major life events, and also agree that legitimate critique of coaches is fair game. Critiques are not the same as insults and I hope people don't confuse the two. No one on either side of the debate should be bullied. Just come prepared with an argument to defend it. Hope all is well with all the coaches personally, not sure what's going on. Hoping we still have a bit of juice left to make the NCAA's which was the minimum goal I had for the team this year. That would still be nice even though we have vastly underperformed.

Agree with all that. Unfortunately The same posters who are apt to personally attack the staff and players are also apt to personally attack other posters.

Let’s just hope for an extended run to wipe away any disappointment thus far.

I beg to differ.

Regardless, no one with the exception of possibly a couple posters has actually personally attacked any coach or player. Critiquing the staff on the merits of their coaching isn't in any way a personal attack.

With that being said, the staff has a chance to get some fans back into their corner with some wins in tournament play (conference and NCAA's).

Good post. I would also say that many of our posters develop amnesia and forget that they questioned the work effort, stubbornness, and even intellect of coaches. Mostly all it takes is one disappointing loss to defame coaches and players alike. The mods love sju and sju bball else they would all quit rather than referee our garbage.

I would vote chapter and verse but then that would call out certain posters and then they would play the victim. Suffice to say most regular posters know the score. There arent many bad people here, but many emotional over the top posters who get angry at every unexpected loss
