Smith Injury

I wouldn’t sit him if he’s good to go. They wouldn’t play him if he wasn’t good to go. If he plays he’s good to go.
Eric:
If you're interested in buying some waterfront property in the desert for a really good price, give me a call.

Understand what you potentially are trying to say as for the meaning of your post. But I’m not sure you understand it doesn’t make sense in this case.

Smith being out will hurt, but with the right St. John's team showing up we should win without him.

Defense, turnovers, energy, hustle, and some key minutes from the deeper part of our bench.

I doubt we stink it up as badly as we did in the Georgetown first half, and we managed to pull that one out, with no Smith, albeit at home.

Who would have thought in the beginning of the season we would debatably missed the smallest player most on the defensive glass. He impacts so many parts of the game. I’d say Kadary is going to be fired up against his old team but that man’s never fired up. Get healthy and see you Wednesday at MSG Deivon.

Again, not being privy to exactly what’s going on injury wise but there is no way they are playing smith in this game if there is a chance of any real further structural damage. Luis played through his shin splints last year but dealt with the pain that’s associated with it.

Smith supposedly has had a shoulder issue he has dealt with and could be similar where he has to manage and deal with the pain from time to time.

Did he look off on things? Sure. But you can be sure that coaching and medical staff was watching as well. If they thought he was risking further injury he wouldn’t be in there.

Clearly they read the site and somebody said "F*+k LMF." But still not a wise decision to play an injured player in a game where you didn't need him.
In general you are absolutely right. But without knowing what the injury is then it’s not so clear cut. Even just saying bruised shoulder doesn’t come close to really defining the extent of the injury.

But after hearing the post game press conference, Pitino does say him and the trainer didn’t want him to play. So definitely some mixed signals there.

I see two different things

1) still injured & chance of further injury.

2) Not going to get injured more but the current state is not solid enough to contribute

First is a no-brainer. Staff (Coach, medical & player) should all be in agreement. No play.

Second, sounds like what happened. If coach still didn't want him to play, why did he? Would they have put him in for 17 minutes if this was a 5 pt game ? Why are they bending to player desire? If need to tes & get some burn, do it in practice.

I felt same thing w/ Brady. Kid was beat up and they continue to play him. Just because you physically can doesn't mean you should.

No sure if this is Smith's first shoulder separation or not. They said it popped back in at halftime and he feltbgood enough to go back in.

I wonder if the patch on his shoulder was a transdermal medication to alleviate pain or inflammation. Alumni Hall might know, and his opinion here msytets a lot to me.

This is where speculation by us on the outside means nothing. Myself included since I don’t know what he’s got going on. I’m just giving generalities about injuries etc.

I’m sure you also mean dislocation and not separation as that is a different joint in the shoulder area. Separation is usually inferring the a-c joint. And dislocation or subluxation is the g-h joint. That’s what is usually popped back in.

What a great job alumni hall had being a part of all this.
