Smith Injury

We can get it done without him, but not so sure I agree with the “plethora of players” remark. We basically have Glover/Lefty to fill in. Glover has struggled of late (and it hasn’t really been talked about, but he STILL has his shooting hand wrapped when he plays, he may not be 100%). And Lefty we’ve hardly seen
He has thrown Ayo into the mix several times this season so there's that.

Me either, we have a thin bench w/o him for sure.

Early this season lots of people were saying how interchangeable and deep our team was, not that we were thin. Amazing things changed in 2 1/2 months.

I would like to see Lefty for more than 1 possession before a media TO or Halftime… let him break a sweat… get a couple shots up… I don’t think we see a drastic drop off if he partners with KR for 3-5 mins
The drop off would be defensively, where Glover is probably a little better.

That’s due to the injury to Dunlap, and the lack of playing time for Glover and Lefty in order to get them to where they need to be in order to really contribute. You can’t fault Pitino though, until now , we needed to win these games to get us into the position we are in now. This upcoming game versus Villanova is not a must win game. We finally have some breathing room here. I would like Pitino to get Glover and Lefty some run tomorrow and let the chips fall where they may. I think it will benefit both the players and the team down the road even if we lose.

For a team winning on its defense, Glover is just not there yet, but will have to rise to the occasion if foul trouble arises. Glover will be a good player, but this SJ defense is premised on discipline. Imo he tends to freelance and lose his concentration a lot. I think Scott is the perfect mentor for him. Lefty is just not at physical stage to contend w BE play yet. This game w/o Smith concerns me, but Pitino, staff & players seem to find a way to overcome adversity.

Not going to happen, if Pitino feels either is ready they will get more minutes, if not, no. He will not sacrifice a game to give players time. He knows his players, and the assumption that increased time will be a positive for all players under all circumstances is just not true. It can do just as much harm.

Lefty will only play a minute before or closing in on a tv timeout to give starter a rest if that. He is just not BE ready imo.

It is huge to keep guards out of foul trouble obviously. Rest assured Nova will try to drive and draw fouls especially a very strong Poplar.
If Villanova, one of the best 3pt shooting teams in the country, has a gameplan of trying to draw fouls in the paint, I will not be upset with that

Get a big lead, early, and these payers will get some burn.

Poplar drove on us last time, often pulling up for short jumpers as I recall. Was not saying they will recklessly drive, but would bet a lot of their game plan would be devoted to getting our thin guard cadre in foul trouble. Driving and kick outs to open guys is to be expected as well. Then again, who knows what Neptune will do.

Exactly

Don't our fans say that early in every season? Ya know, until we go up against real comp and we(and the staff) can truly assess who can be counted on to play significant minutes and who can't. If I had a dime for every time someone posted "what I love about this team is how deep we are", I'd be a rich man. Almost as rich as Mike Maher.
