Frankly, I thought when Lavin got here our days of being humiliated were over.

I'm not trying to tell you how you should feel. Just telling you the way you feel is unrealistic :) Teams get swept. In every sport. Just like we should be sweeping DePaul and Hall someone might clip us twice.

CRGreen would tell you to look at Lavin's first game as UCLA coach. I think they were absolutely smoked that game.

Accept is a bad choice of words. I admire SJUISBACK's fanaticism but no one outside his own bathroom should really GAF what he "accepts". If STJ gets swept and he refuses to accept it, well simply put you'd have to say he's delusional.

However I tend to agree with him that every game with this crew I go in not just hoping for a win but believing it's possible and usually expecting it. In that way I'm delusional too, but apparently more ready than he to accept the reality that has come far too often after the final whistle.

Well I guess we been bad for so long that we have to accept getting swept by other teams, it like Larry Brown said of the culture at SMU when he first arrived: "the culture was bad."
I wish the younger fans would realize that we shouldn`t accept being a bad team.

Hey, I`d love for Lavin to be here as long as he`s like to be, I really dont have anything against him. Yes he brings in top 10 recruiting class, but at the end of the day it isn`t good enogh. It all comes down to how successful he is at SJU.
If he can`t get it done, then maybe Hurley or the other guy that many have said in another thread, just get a guy who wants the challenge of bringing back a GREAT BASKETBALL SCHOOL, yep that`s right. I said it.

Lastly, I really do feel like we`ll one day be even better then we were in the 80s, which will include (dare I say it) a few NC`s. The only question is when? ina few years, 10,20,50 who knows.

I can't disagree more with the it's only January issue! We are a junior dominated squad littered with talent and zero direction.... I think it our beloved team is on the brink of spiraling out of control if lavin can't right this ship....I watch a ton college basketball and we are so far begind other, some lesser teams it's a little scary!! I love lavin but I don't think he is gonna be around long....next 3 games will make or break his future here
 
Whoa the quote function got messed up big time. As far as Saturday's game:

1) It's winnable, for certain. I will be there with my entire family, and we will all be rooting hard to SJU (even the Villanova grads)
2) I want use to win every game, but I don't think the season is over if we lose this one. On the schedule it appears to be our toughest home game. That being said, if we win on Saturday, I also wouldn't be surprised if we got them in Philadelphia too.
3) Winning at DePaul is essential - win or lose Saturday that game is a must win.

When you say you won't accept the sweep what do you mean? Are you going to quit watching if we get swept? Are you not gonna stand for it, and send Lavin an angry and disgruntled letter telling him to resign?

No one wants our team to get swept, but if we do you have to move on in life, you can't get all hung up and not accept the fact.

For what it's worth I agree with whoever said some teams will beat you twice, that's just life. Accepting that isn't the same thing as liking it.

Jack, when I hear people say "they accept getting swept" to me it`s like say "ah ok that we get swept, we suck anyway, so I don`t care.

Is it because we can`t compete against some teams, so we gotta accept getting our ass kicked?
 
I absolutely refuse to accept paying $11 for a beer at MSG. That being said I still pay for it.

Kind of like sjuisback and St John's. He might refuse to accept losing but I'm pretty sure he's still going to pay to go to games

Haha, that's what i asked him.

Again SJUisntBACK, no one likes getting swept, but that doesn't mean we don't accept it. You have to move on in life, your world can't come crashing down if we get swept by a team.
 
There s a big difference in getting swept by Syracuse vs. Seton Hall.I wouldn't be Dissapointed if we got swept by a top 4 team.

My recommendation would be to write to Father Joseph L. Levesque, C.M.
It will help if you tell him Class of 72's cousin had him for Religion at St. John's Prep in 1968.
He will remember him if you tell him he was the only student he failed that year because he questioned virgin birth myths.
That may get his attention but when I complained to him this week about Lavin he responded by asking "Is he not the Coach at UCLA? He coaches here now?
I responded by saying, NO he does not coach here, he just recruits here and leaves the coaching to Rico Hines, former advisor to Nobody in particular.

What do coaches do when they say their teams play is unacceptable? Would they step down from coaching? No
But they still know that it`s unacceptable.

But that is something that can be changed in future games. Getting swept is a done deal. You either accept it or you beat your wife. In which case, you accept it in a jail cell.
