You might want to re-read what I've been posting.   Either you missed my point(s) entirely, or you don't care and want to  re-imagine them as something else.  Either way you are creating a strawman argument for you to attack...
- I've said there is not a role for a defensive specialist. Only that if that's all he's got to his game, its not a huge role.
- I've never said that a kid who isn't a good 3pt shooter couldn't play on my team, or have a big role  on that team.

- I've said that if you can't shoot from the outside in that role, then you need to be able to attack the basket and convert Free Throws.  If you can't do either you won't be on the court in crunch time because the other team can play 5 on 4 defensively.   Case in point:  Posh Alexander.    Shoots 3's like MM but is nearly 20 points better at the charity stripe.   If your misinterpretation of my comments were true, I'd be anti-posh.    I'm not.   I love that kid and have said one day we will look back at his commitment to our program as the turning point on our long, arduous road back to relevance.

This is what you said.... This is a direct quote.

"But if I'm coach I'd be very clear about whats expected of him.   If he's shooting 29% & 55% when we hit the conference schedule in January, he's going to lose minutes.  This kid (and Wusu) should spend the next 6 months shooting FT's and 3's until they can't lift their arms anymore."

As I said, your basing your playing time based on a kid's shooting percentage, I stated that no coach is telling a player that.  If a kid is killing it on the defensive end and helping the team win games, but he is struggling shooting a coach isn't going to tell him he's losing minutes, because his shooting numbers don't meet a certain standard.  I read exactly what you wrote and understood what you said.  If you didn't mean it that way, you need to do a better job explaining exactly what you mean, don't try to make it like I'm reading something else.

Well that's an improvement.  At least you aren't arguing any longer that I won't take kids who can't shoot threes.

MM just lost his starting job at Rutgers, and it wasn't because he can't play defense.
And are you suggesting that CMA wouldn't be very clear with a kid about his role?  He wouldn't say something along the lines of "here's the role we envision for you.  Here's what we need to help you improve on to expand that role"... If that's the case then you are representing a version of CMA that is contrary to the type of person I understood him to be.
How many coaches give crunch time minutes in league play to guys that can't shoot FT's?  There's a reason Josh Roberts couldn't get big minutes despite showing massive improvement from the previous year afte CMA showed up.

We can go in circles like this all day, but what's the point?    I've never suggested we shouldn't take the kid.  or that he wouldn't have a role here.
Just that that role would be limited if he doesn't improve his shooting from deep and/or from the FT line.  Just like it was limited at Rutgers.
For some reason you have a problem with that.
Just like you had a problem with my expecting a coach to be candid with a recruit about his role and what expectations they have for working on improving his game.
Just like you had a problem with my suggestion that Wusu and MM should spend the summer working on the weaker portions of their game, since they can already defend.
Just like you had a problem with my suggestion that guys who are offensive liabilities don't get crunch time minutes  when the game slows down in conference & Tournament play.
Maybe you just have a problem.

Either way...its been fun kicking it around.  Looking forward to seeing if MM ends up here and who else we are fortunate enough to add.

LOVE the Mathis pickup if he does indeed commit. With 2 remaining scholarships, get the best available shooter and then stash the last one for whenever.

Pretty certain it’s gonna be Montez which I think is a great pickup.  Then we can all re-focus on landing shooters with our last two scholarships.  Lol
If it's Montez, CMA better land a shooter fast or we're going to be at each others heads... we'll have to be split into defense and offense fourms. /media/kunena/emoticons/tongue.png

Mitchell Robinson plays a similar role to Green for the Knicks.   How come they haven't won big while he's been here?

Careful.   Some folks don't like shooters around here... /media/kunena/emoticons/grin.png

Yea man, you too.  I love a good debate :)

We all loved Justin Simon.  There is a role for athletic,  kids who can defend and do a little of everything. I’d LOVE to add shooters as well now.  We have more ships to give!!

Impressive job by the staff improving the talent level. I really loved Marcellus Moore and Greg but the guys were bringing in are upgrades. Biggest thing is the guys were bringing in (excluding Joel) have played and won big games. They can close. Which we couldn’t last year.

I suspect we will find out in an hour or so.  The media guys are usually given time to start working on their articles lol...

Soriano enjoying Mike’s latest storm on Twitter,  very likable guy and great teammate I suspect

No more guards blowing past our defense getting layups. The on ball defensive improvement vs last year is gonna be huge

I'm sorry but Coach Mike Anderson just cannot recruit in NYC. There's no way he can be successful here in this environment. He has absolutely has no chance to survive.

THANK YOU MIKE CRAGG for not listening to the above bull shit.

Now give me either a knockdown shooter or Jose Alvarado, along with the return of Champagnie, and we'll be cooking with gas.

If we add Alvarado to the backcourt of Posh and Mathis, then you're potentially looking at one scary backcourt.  Big East backcourts will have their hands full!
