SJU Transfer Targets/Possibilities

Exactly. And if you add in at least one of those 3 that can make 3s at a high clip, whether it’s Champ, Smith, etc, all the better. Posh was a better shooter than advertised last year too and I have no reason not to expect improvement there.

The reality is that GW could not hit the side of a barn as a freshman from outside and worked on developing the 3.  Take the scoring as a 3rd option and count on solid NYC defense.  A steal this late in the game.  Great add if possible

As one of the most astute Posters here told me privately do we really want to potentially cut in on Pinzon minutes if Williams came ?

I'm not so sure that's a good idea unless you tell me Pinzon can also handle minutes at PG spelling Posh

Let Pinzon earn his minutes just like everyone on the roster should have to do. Williams has 4 years experience at high D1 level whereas we don't even know if Pinzon is ready to contribute at the BE level as a freshmen.

It's a fair point, especially in this day and age where those who sit often transfer.

They transfer today if their Aunt Tilly gets a new turtle. You can't run your team worrying about who may transfer in this day and age. We may have only 2 returning players this season.

Truth be told Mike it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the exuberant posts about Williams but refrained from posting my thoughts as I said no reason to piss on this hypothetical parade. However with Wusu, Mathis,Smith and Pinzon already in place there is no reason we need Williams who would cut into Pinzon’s minutes and growth and there is far more need for another ball handler. If we are ever to return to anything more than mediocrity one of the prime reasons will be that local coaches trust CMA to develop their players and give them proper pt. Champ, Posh and Wusu have been a great start but it must continue. I am looking forward to Pinzon and Traoré keeping that run going.

Great points RMN. Now if Julian waa definitely going pro and CMA planned on rolling out smaller lineup at 1-4 then I’d definitely say take him but now I’m definitely leaning more to your like if thought

I’d grab him in a heartbeat.  I’m not worried about Pinzon’s development because he has a few years, is young and we play a lot of guys.  We need to be built to win NOW, not later.  The shifting landscape is impossible to make predictions on.  The kid is a player at both ends and is very much a Mike Anderson type kid.  Can defend and score in a multitude of ways.

I find this Williams development quite interesting. Hopefully staff agrees with me.

Just curious as to why you find this so interesting.  I see a 6'5 guard (which I like) that shot 31% from 3 (don't like), 65% from the line and had an assist to turnover ratio of just about 1 to 1.  Is it just that he is local?  Friends with JC?  Admittedly, I have ever seen him play, but t seems like so many get so excited about a kid being local whether he can play well or not.  Honestly, if he comes here and puts up those numbers there will be people saying he should transfer and we need better talent than this to compete.  Not trying to attack you in any way, just not sure what there is that is so interesting.
He averaged more ppg than Smith in a better conference. And I think he's better than Mathis. Plus he's coming out of a program that has traditionally emphasized playing tough D.

Posters keep saying we need another kid or two. Well, it's almost July and we'd be lucky to get this kid at this late a date.

If him being a New Yorker and friends with JC gives us a boost, I'm all for it.

Fair response LJSA, thank you.

Stock up on talent.
You never know what is bound to happen in a season ie injuries, transfers, someone not panning out, etc.

If we trust seasoned pro like Anderson to make the pieces fit, best to go with his player choices. He’s done fine so far getting program pointed in right direction. Do believe if Julian back, he’ll be expected to Dance this year and in my world, make some noise there. Roster depth seems there with adding another talented player to do that.

I already miss Crime Dog.  Having a player whose body language says "Yeah, Posh is going to sit a few minutes before he takes you apart to end the game but if you try to press me with Posh out you will discover that I can dribble through anything and find the man you left open to press me.
Bring it punk."

I believe he actually has until and thru tomorrow, 7/1.  And just to stipulate what you really mean wrt the cutoff is for immediate eligibility under the new rule.  Because there is no cutoff to entering the portal, anyone can enter it at anytime.

Alvarado update and I believe he has not entered transfer portal which if so means he has until today to do so. If not, he too has until 7/7 to either go pro or return to to GTech
