Chris Ledlum dribbled the ball off his leg out of bounds more than any college basketball player I can remember and his ability to finish around the hoop-kind of important for your starting four man- made me long for the days of Dylan Addae-Wusu. He was completely overmatched on the offensive end.

He is a great kid. He is a tough kid. His effort level is unquestioned and gutting through an injury is admirable.

He is not a Big East level athlete nor are his skills top-of-the-Big East-starter level. If he's our starting 4 next year something has gone horribly wrong. If he wants to sue the NCAA so he can come back and come off the bench for 15-20 minutes a game, fine. Good for the culture and continuity I guess. But as I said in a different thread...the whole reason you hire Rick Pitino is to recruit thoroughbreds (no pun intended), not undersized, unathletic players like Ledlum. There are plenty of athletic 6'9" guys who try really hard too. Lets get one of them.
When his ankled healed he was blocking 7 footers in the post. He has big east athletic ability. His post game does leave a lot to desire. But his effort is there. And players who go hard are much more needed then guys who won’t even run back on d!

I like DJ Davis. I think he would've been a much better fit than Dingle this season. Better ball handler, better shooter, and won't need the ball in his hands to be effective. Will be a bit of a defensive liability, but he can also get us a basket and be a catch & shoot guy from three.

Good luck on that. Maybe my bench marks are too high, but I consider guys like Sealy, Artest, Mullin, Berry, even Ponds & few other Johnnies as “studs”, term often applied too loosely. Not breaking chops and respect your opinion. RJ is heading into his third year and hopefully he rises to your projected level inclusive of dedication to defending consistently.
Ponds showed out from the moment he stepped foot on campus.. averaging 35mpg, over his 3 years...
His jr yr - 19.7 ppg / 5 apg / 4rpg... in 35 minutes per game
Ron's soph yr...- 14.5ppg / 6.3 rpg ... in 34 mpg... no one will debate his "Stud" status..

I think RJ has all the tools* to produce similar numbers as our past "Studs"... plus a monster advantage in his Teacher... under an all-time great Coach... I think the only one that can hold him back is himself...

What would you prefer? Hopkins and Dubar, or Luis and Taylor returning for a second year in RP’s system?
Why do you think it's either/or? For example:

C: Omoruyi, Ejafor, Maker
PF: Hopkins, Luis (not really a PF but a good rebounder so putting him here)
Wings (SF/SG): Dubar, Brea, Taylor, Glover, Dunlap
Guards: Wilcher, Joseph, DJ Davis, Liotopoulos

That's 14, so somebody may not stick...

Again, I'm not saying it has to be Omoruy, Hopkins, Dubar, Brea, Davis, Joseph. But pieces like those fit into the roster and could be upgrades at some positions.

Missing Ayo

Don't think anyone questions Luis's physical tools. The question is whether he is capable of making progress from being a dumb player to a smart player. Agree that if anyone can get him from Point A to Point B it's Pitino.

Don’t you think Pitino would target the best player available at each position if he stood a chance?
Yes and I think he'll do that. I'm not saying he's going to recruit a bunch of future NBA players at every position and I realize he'll get beat out at the top of the market for a bunch of guys. I'm just saying that finding somebody better than Ledlum should not be difficult.

Gonna convince Luis to stick around and be a back up?

I think Luis would need to start or he's out. He'd probably be the wing in this case. Ayo is also missing, I think he's Pitino's Drissa and will be on the team regardless.

I'd say of Luis/Hopkins/Dubar/Taylor, we probably would have to choose two of them. No way Dubar comes here as a backup.

He was mentioned a short time ago as possible target.
