SJU Portal Targets

Utah State had 13 out of 16 players this year and none of their returnees scored a point for them the year before and they are dancing (not sure how many came through the portal)

Last year Kansas State made the final four with 8 or 9 new players coming from out of the portal.
I recently read an article that no team this season that brought in more than 7 transfers made the tournament.

That article listed those particular teams and they all had more than 7 transfers but I don’t think it meant that every team that had that many transfers wasn’t successful. Article was before field was even picked.

Right now we only have room for 4.

A Stretch four is exactly someone who can play away from and face the basket playing on the perimeter. I have no idea if Holmes can be that guy but I do know he has some perimeter skills but it would be nice if he did.
I completely agree that a 4 who can play on the perimeter would be a fit for Pitino. I just don't think that Holmes - who I LOVE as a player - is that guy. Put him at the 5, fine. Just don't have confidence that he would thrive as a 4 who is expected to knock down 3s. But he may want to do that to develop his profile for the NBA, sure.

I read the same article and also know that the fact checking of some of these articles/post is suspect.

As I said, I don’t know how many of Utah State’s players came from the portal but they had more than 7 (13) new players this year.

watched him today for the 2nd time this season lol... while obviously very skilled... he's a bit "lumbering" no? thought he would look a bit more nimble and quick... for what he will cost- 7 figures... ehhh... think we can get a solid rotational big for 1/5 of his price...

For the rankings fanatics here's ESPN's list of top players in the portal. Bensley Joseph checks in at #29 and Cliff at #2.

On3 rankings has Joseph #61 and Cliff also at #2.

I assume this list changes significantly as teams are eliminated from NIT and NCAA Tournament play. So these will be ratings in flux. Hopefully, Rick is waiting for the full “menu” as it were.

He’ll be a Johnny and then build around him. Some chatter about another experienced, talented forward
Praying it's Holmes, screw the money just get him.

Cliff, Holmes, Clayton, now thats a great start. You want to beat UConn? Wanna be big boy status? Then you do what the big boys do and roll out the funds, and conquer everyone next year.

Remember Rick told Shanley: "I'm not coming here to be mediocre."
