No thanks
You guys are nuts. Pitino has been pretty clear that Wilcher is his point guard of the future. But he needs back up and someone strong to play with. Who better than a guard that’s started at Miami, been coached by Larragna and made it to the final four last year. I have no inside info nor do I know what the kid is like. But with his stats and that resume, he seems like he’s more than a “no thanks”

I think I am going to trust Pitino here. He was pretty clear that he wasn’t completely comfortable with the skill sets (?) of some of last years recruiting. If I remember he made some of the comments during his tirade. He was clearly frustrated but I am sure some of that is “truth”. That is on HIM and was his responsibility. However, I trust he has more time and will be more focused on getting the types of players for how he wants to play. Excited to see how he shapes next years team.

He is. I can only imagine the Thanksgiving dinners at the Pitino household if RP lured him to Jamaica.
Junior knows Dent is gone. He’s simply too good to return in the transfer era. He could be a top 5 pg in the country next season. Why not direct him to play at a more appropriate level for a team that has significant overlap in terms of style and system?

The same could be said for Cruz Davis in the other direction just like NJJ this season.

Curious who your top choice of lead guard is at this point to play alongside Wilcher

I’m not convinced that even with Pitino’s praise of Wicher and postings on here that our new lead guard will be playing along side Wilcher. While Wilcher has shown promise in some games, in others he’s looked attrocious. Let see who shows up before we designate anyone in any position. Personally, I believe Glover may give him a battle there.

I don’t necessarily think Wilcher needs a lead guard next to him…another combo would be fine.

Freshman Dedan Thomas of UNLV and Soph Donovan Dent are my tier 1. Thomas reminds me of Erick Barkley. Dent is unreal in the lane and as pure of PG as there is. You wouldn’t need to find any more offense because he would drive and kick to capable shooters like Brady or a Dubar.

Tier two would be a pair of guys like Bensley Joseph who click some boxes on offense but will get after it on defense. You’d need to get some offense elsewhere though like Clayton.

Doesn’t Thomas have UNLV roots? I agree, it is calming and reassuring with the ball in his hands, just like Barkley.
