I hear you. I thought Wilcher's defense at MSG against Nova, when he got some decent burn, was excellent.

Also, I am typically at the games early watching warm-ups. Now, before I get attacked, I realize it is just warm-ups. But, this kid can really shoot the ball. This is a very good young player.
Pitino said he was our 2nd best shooter on the team this year.

People people people…and look I love Wilcher’s potential but there were many games last year that he couldn’t be trusted to play 5 seconds so maybe temper expectations a bit that he is suddenly going to become all-world.

Seems like Wilcher gets in his own head a little too much. It was either against UConn or SH that a pass went through his hands after entering the game and CRP gave him the quick hook, not to be seen again. I trust that the talent is there, but the confidence is not. At least not yet. Some players need more time to get comfortable.

Agreed. Possibly 30 minutes. 20 at SG, 10 at PG as the primary backup.
Wilcher came here with the understanding that Pitino would teach him the point guard position, as that is what he wants to do in the pros. (Given his size, speed etc.) He played shooting guard in high school. I wouldn’t be too quick to write him off as just an occasional pg but of course we need another one, if only for backup. I see him starting at point but playing both guard positions. Pitino has promised him that publicly, with the obvious caveat that he has to be able to hold on to it. It’ll be interesting to see who he brings in but I’m confident that Pitino will keep him and his father happy.

I’m not ready to say it couldn’t work, hell smart talented players who can pass can fit most places, just that there are better fits like you mentioned. Although McDaniel comes with a ton of baggage.
And doesn’t have the size that Pitino typically likes (although Siva, Smith weren’t big)

We are going to get a few difference makers this year. We will not be going 19-14. I think we get close to 25 wins. RP will not accept mediocrity and I think he is driven to excel this year.

If you're getting yanked after one mistake and banished to the bench for the rest of the game, its not you that's in your head, it's the coach.

Just sayin'...
