Change is inevitable... except from vending machines...Intra league transfer taboo in past becoming the norm or at least often. Not nuts about it, but change or perish I guess
By the Greek are we talking about a descendant of Jimmy the Greek, Aristotle Onassis or Telly Savales, or perhaps Spartacus?I am being told by a friend who still scouts extensively, including major tournaments in Europe, to not underestimate the Greek; the last player I took his word for and broadcast here was Pointer and he still insists he was right about him but Lavin was hung up on positions instead of just putting him out there and letting him play.
Anyway, FWIW, great respect for his knowledge and he thinks the Greek would have started next to Jenkins this year if he had been here. Just a messenger here, obviously never saw the Greek play.

Jimmy the Greek, pre-monkeying around days. Or was it Ari, pre-Jacqueline around?By the Greek are we talking about a descendant of Jimmy the Greek, Aristotle Onassis or Telly Savales, or perhaps Spartacus.

I haven’t seen enough of Wilcher to say. But RP loves him and has called him the future of the program. We need a guard that can create their own space and rise up for a jump shot. Wilcher is not that. I like Wilcher and maybe he can grow into the role but I am not sure we put all of our eggs in his basket. We need another athletic shooter.
rick trying to get as many kids to stay lol... he'll say anything.... its rough out there with retentionI haven’t seen enough of Wilcher to say. But RP loves him and has called him the future of the program.
Yeah I don’t think so. Jenkins and Soriano come to mind. I haven’t heard him say anything about Taylor and Luis. RP is so dedicated to player develpment. He sees things behind the scenes that we don’t see in games.rick trying to get as many kids to stay lol... he'll say anything.... its rough out there with retention
Agreed. Possibly 30 minutes. 20 at SG, 10 at PG as the primary backup.I think Pitino 100% sees Wilcher as a centerpiece of the team moving forward. I genuinely think Pitino views him as a soon to be star and people who think he’s only going to play 15-20 minutes will be surprised when he starts right away and is a big part of the offense. Agree it’s as a combo guard and they bring in a transfer who can handle the ball.
I’m not saying he’s above being benched if he plays poorly (I sense Pitino will bench anyone and everyone who isn’t meeting his expectations) only that there’s a good chance starting this upcoming season Wilcher emerges as one THE guys. I think there’s a plan here.

Yeah I think we see how the roster fills out but agree he’s not the primary ball handler except for when whoever that ends up being is on the bench. I don’t really know how to project minutes without knowing the rest of the roster but I assume he’s going to be one of the guys who plays the most (whatever that is) I think they’ll work with him on his handle and on ball defense (those are really the 2 areas I personally see a need for growth) and they’ll emphasize they need him to be more aggressive as a scorer. I think he’s going to pop next year. He has a beautiful stroke, he has a midrange game and he can clearly get to the hoop. He’s a 3 level guy. I really do think Wilcher is easily the most gifted prospect offensively we’ve had since Ponds. I don’t think he was as much of an alpha as Ponds but I get the sense he may show more growth over the course of his college career. Just my opinion from what I’ve seen and what we’ve heard from coach. Maybe I’m wrong!Agreed. Possibly 30 minutes. 20 at SG, 10 at PG as the primary backup.
I would not go into next season expecting 30 minutes from Wilcher. 20-25 much more realistic.
Hope you are right about the Greek because I would not want to be screwed at that position.I am being told by a friend who still scouts extensively, including major tournaments in Europe, to not underestimate the Greek; the last player I took his word for and broadcast here was Pointer and he still insists he was right about him but Lavin was hung up on positions instead of just putting him out there and letting him play.

Until Wilcher improves his defense and in-game decision making, don't expect more than 20 minutes as a sophomore while a transfer gets major minutes. We can’t afford a key player in the rotation to collect 2 fouls within 5 minutes.I actually do expect Wilcher to play 30 minutes, and be 2nd team all-conference.
