SJU Portal Targets

That is exactly how it is.

The only question is who is going to sign him to a scholarship until they know for sure he has eligibility.

No school is going to burn a schollie on a kid on the "hope" he may become eligible especially at the expense of another player they may be able to land.
For sure, but he'll land at a good spot even if he doesn't win the appeal until August. Somebody will need him and will find room for him

But again you are assuming he wins it and you are assuming this will get litigated by then. No guarantee of either.

Look I agree he has nothing to lose by going into the Portal. Heck it would not surprise me if he and Rick have a handshake agreement about making room if possible even as a walk on if things work out with the litigation and he prefers to stay at SJU.

I know he loves SJU and loves playing here.

I am speaking about other schools. They have rosters to finalize. They can't sign a kid on a "hope."

I think I saw someone here say the judge is reconvening on May 14th, so hopefully there's some resolution by then.

I think we are generally in agreement here but I think no matter how late he gets cleared he'll find a spot that'll work for him. He may not have a ton of options but someone will take him on even if it's with NIL paying the tuition

Been saying even before his name was announced as in...this is the guy.
About Kim.. Love him. He's a great young man, Coach and leader. He's WAY WAY in the wrong here. Morally he's right, in practice he's wrong. And hypocritical might i add. Chalk it up as frustration..he'll grow and learn and his intentions were good
the amount of people who coach basketball that looked at that tweet and said "those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" is by the hundreds.

Some Trilly updates:

Omier: "A couple other teams are trying to get involved. I've heard Louisville, Arkansas an Kansas State mostly. Not sure if there's real traction in any direction yet."

Smith: "TBD. Washington just hired a Utah assistant so I'd give an early nod to them."
With all due respect, Trilly needs to be more mindful of the things he shares. "Not sure if there's real traction in any direction yet." so why tell 6000 people this then?

He is earning money and entitled to share what he wants. Frankly, I donā€™t buy into everything he says nor all the social media pundits either. I donā€™t think any of us should be the ā€œkeeper of the flameā€ with this ā€œstuffā€ though.

Sure I hear that, but he's essentially talking out of both sides of his mouth, just sends everyone into a tizzy. Oh well

Some context is that other people, namely Louisville and Arkansas fans, were asking him about it last night/today. So in that way, he's confirming that other schools are trying to get involved.

Marketing his product, but whatever. I have been around this stuff a long time and frankly have often heard info shared by staff members at numerous schools who engage in hyperbole causing fans to go into a ā€œtizzyā€.

I fail to see the contradiction in what he said. Trilly definitely pushes some info as favors to whoever but overall he seems like a normal dude that's not a Goodman-like media lacky that shares what he hears, most of which is not public knowledge elsewhere. He also makes it clear when he has no insight into a particular topic or when things he hears/shares aren't from elite sources.

Most of the people who spend $6 for his info are kind of wanting to be sent into a tizzy over his info lol.

From Zach, re Targets:

What's up everyone. A few notes
-- St. John's is hosting Utah PG Deivon Smith tomorrow and remain in very good shape for Kadary Richmond. Could they land both? It's not out of the question. Smith is also considering Washington and West Virginia.
-- Chris Ledlum is entering the transfer portal to give him options. Obviously, case is pending for his extra year of eligibility. returning or going pro are also possibilities.
-- Miami transfer Norchad Omier remains a major target, as does Texas transfer Dillon Mitchell. St. John's is actively looking for a starting power forward.
