Something tells me that "school" ain't what it once was. Which is why you hear about very few kids leaving college ball for the pros(includes Europe, etc) because they're sick if being so called "students". It's also why you hardly ever hear of a kid being "academically illegible" any more. If you can hoop, and make the school big bucks, then they ain't getting rid of you so quickly for academic reasons.
To an extent. Caleb Love couldn't go to Michigan for academic reasons. If you're no showing classes, you may not be disciplined as you once would be but you're definitely not showing up the following year.

Not saying there's no academic bar, but it's way way lower then it's ever been

Agree with that. Also think the elite players who can't clear those lower academic bars end up at OTE, G-League Ignite, etc. before college to begin with.

As the revenue generated from college basketball and football increased substantially, the academic standards(I use that term loosely) decreased. That's no coincidence.

Tristen Newton went to East Carolina. Cam Spencer went to Loyola Maryland. Tyler Kolek went to George Mason

I don't care where these kids come from. Our staff doing a full college basketball season of scouting makes me confident they're going to be way more intentional about who to go after.
Agree 100 percent . Where did Scheirman come from ? Some out of the way School in nowhere ville
How about Dalton Knecht at Tennessee ? Another small mid Major and JC player .

If a player can drill the shot , unless they have no Athletic ability , we can use them !
If a player like Scheirman , Spencer or Knecht isn’t on RP’s radar , they should be !
Scout those woe be gone places ,Rick . Go to Europe , get another player like the Greek kid .

No one cares if Spencer , Kolek , Knecht , Scheirman have lateral movement , they can shoot . We didn’t have that 3 point sharpshooter this year and it hurt us .
Dunlap may or may not be that knock down automatic but , RP needs to find out .
I think he will develop but , enough to be Dead Eye Dunlap ?

Rick had always had that kind of player that is a great shooter . He did at PC , Kentucky and L’ville . This year he didn’t
Dingle was ok at season end and Alleyne had good games but , they weren’t automatic .

Get out into the Dakotas , Iowa, Indiana , etc and get that kind of player . From the portal or wherever .

There is something really unattractive about a grown man saying a 20-year-old kid suffers from "head splints." Everything you say oozes resentment and fear about talented basketball players getting fairly compensated for the money they generate. Whatever you are angry about in the world, it has nothing to do with changes in college sports.

I am not sure what you mean but if we're treating the 20 year old as a professional (as opposed to a student athlete) and paying him as such, he is subject to criticism as a professional. Just sayin'.

There is a large and legitimate issue about what "fair compensation" is and what the state of college sports should be. Just because someone does not view this as comparable to purely professional athletics does not mean they are wrong or that there is not something wrong with how the old system has devolved in a chaotic mess to the "new order".

Changes are warranted and will come, but how it has started and how it will end will eradicate a paradigm that existed for a long time, that suited most everyone well (student athlete and school). If you think (and most would agree with you) that the old system was unfair, and that the educational opportunity afforded players in the past was not "fair compensation", that is fine. But what it is now (hopefully until some order is brought to it) is just a mess. And, the "fair value" assessment has not settled, causing disruption to what was once an enjoyable athletic pastime.

We're officially in, interpreting player tweets season. Happy the check cleared at least. lol

Which of the Florida schools are the Bulls ? Hey , Luis is from Florida . Like Clayton jr
Lots to like about the Sunshine State .
Just from Financial reasons . No State income tax . For one .

I am unsure about my own Luis opinions . He has skills but, also has some Weaknesses .
Does he fit with Pitino ? That’s the issue for both , Coach and Player.

I , like some, saw some disconnect between Luis and Pitino throughout the season . During Games and Pressers too .

We shall see .

NoBull = Repole = St. John's

Let us hope that is the case . IF RP wants Luis to return ?

Luis needs to heed Pitino’s words . If not….
