All we have to do now is use the Utah State name and we'll make the tournament. We can have the whole USU team at this point

My thinking as well. Pitino mentioned back in October that the defense was going to be an issue so I'm sure he spent lots of time focusing on fixing it but it still never got close to where he wanted it to get. Agree that Freshmen can be developed but a guy who has been a defensive liability for 4 years in college isn't going to develop into even an average defender in just one offseasonAgree, it is one thing to assume RP can develop freshman, sophomores over time, but these one year free agents are often relatively unteachable. No knock on Rick’s player development skills, more of a commentary on one year guys.
Do you think those were our issues last year?Defense is mostly effort and positioning and I think both would improve under Pitino.
playing devil's advocate, I would argue coaching up one player's defense is a lot easier and effective than an entire team. Not sure why people think his defense is going to suddenly improve with Pitino. This year’s team got called out by Pitino in mid February for their poor defense so he wasn’t able to fix theirs in just a few months. Why would Kriisa be any different especially when he’s starting from an even worse point?

Good defenders certainly play with great effort and understand position, but that’s just the starting point. Physical ability is as big a factor as any.
Of courseThis guy has zero sources.
That's not true. Luis made some big defensive plays in big moments. His effort hasn't been consistent.Luis showed zero effort on defense. All I’m saying is I think Krissa’s defense will be improved. Not saying hes going to magically turn into Gary Payton all of a sudden.
Beware of “done deal” alerts (Don’t I know)
Pitino said it best with RJ, something like he thrills him with the talent and plays he can make, but also drives him crazy at times. Assuming Luis stays for another year, I expect that situation to improve some. That's not true. Luis made some big defensive plays in big moments. His effort hasn't been consistent.
Will be similar with Kriisahe thrills him with the talent and plays he can make, but also drives him crazy at times.
I think SjU gets him and ScottDave hinted at something in a tweet previously posted as well though.
Really want Scott I think he will be an excellent fit.I think SjU gets him and Scott
Kriisa is 8 shots a game though. 6 are from deep. Will be similar with Kriisa
I agree, getting the big man is obviously more complicatedReally want Scott I think he will be an excellent fit.
Just a tweet friends. Don't read into things, you're going to drive yourself crazy.Dave hinted at something in a tweet previously posted as well though.
I am coming around as well. I like the way he plays point. I love that he doesn’t need to dribble the air out of the ball, doesn’t need to pass on his terms, and that he doesn’t dominate shots.I’m starting to come around on Krissa. I think paired with the right 2-guard that’s a pretty good backcourt. I’d expect his defense to be much improved under Pitino.
Please, not the lateral quickness issue again! Anything but that!I am coming around as well. I like the way he plays point. I love that he doesn’t need to dribble the air out of the ball, doesn’t need to pass on his terms, and that he doesn’t dominate shots.
He’s as good of a pull up shooter and quick shooter as I’ve seen so he definitely fits Pitino’s philosophy there. Pick and roll game looks good.
The defense worries me. His hands are always down, not the quickest guy laterally, and his effort doesn’t look great — albeit better than Dingle coming in. He’s going to create next to nothing from deflections and steals.
I trust Pitino, but this is not the direction I saw him going.
